I have been going to therapy off and on for years and whenever I bring up my desire to date and my difficulties with it I have gotten back to just work on myself and online I have seen “if you aren’t happy alone you won’t be happy in a relationship”. I have major depression and have had it for years. Am I supposed to just hope it goes away? Wait until my entire life has passed?

Do you think your potential partner deserves you as you are now?

This is confusing. Who DESERVES anyone? What makes someone deserve someone? How do you judge someone’s worth?

And how do you answer such question without the answer being indicative mainly of the person’s self-esteem? Should only people who value themselves highly be dating?

Well it’s up to everyone to decide for themselves right?

Gross question. I get what you’re asking, but some of us never get better or even good enough to ‘deserve’ a partner. It’s still our right to pursue love and companionship.

Is that really fair. I’ve definitely had periods of my life where it’s seemed selfish
