I’m in my early 50’s and I stay healthy and slim, so no worries. But if this is all so terrible, can’t the dems just win the next election and overturn everything if Trumps plans turn out so bad?

guess the democrats should try to do something about it then, instead of just mocking and making fun of conservatives.

How did that mocking workout for you all in the last election? lmao

There was no mocking last election, not from me. I was fighting for rights to healthcare and housing for you as well as me even though I’m healthy and already own a home. The mocking started when people were so hell bent on owning the libs that Shitler was put back in power with his billionaire cronies to rob us all in broad daylight and there was nothing else I could do. I did my civic duty but I felt those who voted for Trump wanted more revenge than a healthy America no matter how you define healthy. So I protest, call my representatives, and if there’s anything left in the tank at the end of the day I point out facts to those delirious enough to wish me harm. I’ll be fine, I’ll survive Trump. But my survival isn’t enough in my book. Besides, I’d rather we thrive which is not happening.

That’s good to hear. But the majority of Lemmy sure as fuck was mocking conservatives and piling onto people who would’t vote for Harris–even if they were voting third party.

I know that just in my dealings with many on Lemmy, I will never ever vote Democrat.

And you, yourself, have been pretty pissy about stuff with me in particular. Not exactly a great way to try to sway me over to your side of the fence.

Promising healthcare, housing, a UBI, a union job, and taxes on those who could afford it to pay for it all wasn’t winning a certain class of people over. When honey doesn’t work, you get vinegar instead.

So it seems Democrats made a mistake in how they marketed their product. Do you think they have learned from their recent failure?

They’re licking their wounds and having their heads spun by a new brutalist, machete-instead-of-scalpel type of politics that nobody was ready for. A new democrat party that I can get behind will probably only have one person from “the old guard”: Bernie Sanders. And he’s not perfect either, I wish he supported nuclear energy. Truth is, if we have another election, I hope there are zero hold overs on both sides of the aisle and we start from an entirely different place.
