      Lol yeah, the “pre-emptively defederate from Threads” Lemmy drama has been a long standing comedy gold mine. There are countless walls of texts written by concerned scholars on the many ways the world will end and capitalism will win if Threads is allowed to federate.

          Or they worry that Threads will embrace the Fediverse so they can extinguish it, which is a funny premise. Are you saying the admins would sell their instances? Or the devs would surrender development to Threads for them to ultimately bury the project?

          How can Threads do this without the co-operation of the people of the Fediverse? It’s a bit like asking these admins to per-emptively wear a chastity belt because they won’t be able to abstain themselves from getting ass fucked by Threads when the time comes.
