So I have gained weight recently (like, way too much) and was feeling down because my job is so sedentary, I barely exercised.

But in the past two weeks that’s changed! I got a mini stepper for days when I just can’t get outside, got a wobble board for core workouts (that one is plain fun), and got ankle weights for walks.

Have done a 20-minute walk every day this past week. I’m already noticing more strength and stamina!

Going to keep this up and get FIT.

Congrats! This is awesome. As someone who was in this place a few years back, I can honestly say that your future self will thank you for sticking with this.

About 5 years ago, I started working out consistently, and it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a really long time. Once it became a habit, I missed working out if I couldn’t make it for a few days. I crave it now. I am in my mid-forties now, but I’m fitter than I was for most of my thirties, and I have more energy for things.

So great job for getting active again, and stick with it! You will be so happy you did.

    Hell yes! Well done.

I’ve been walking so much recently, and then stopped for a couple of days and noticed my legs were so sore and painful.

Apparently my body’s got used to walking and it demands more. Guess it knows what is good for her!

Woo hoo! So proud of you. I’m also working on increasing my activity. Gotta be ready for the potential zombie apocalypse!

Walking really is the best. I can’t get outdoors a lot right now due to schedules and lack of safe public spaces, but In the past it’s helped when I paired the outdoor activity with listening to podcasts. Audio fiction! No politics. The point is it should be enjoyable, and give you reasons to look forward to that time.

Suggested podcasts to start: The Walk (you are an adhoc spy saving the world) We’re Alive (zombie apocalypse) The Magnus Archives (spooky anthology with lots of world building between episodes)

Oooh, those are great recommendations, thank you. I can’t do political podcasts anymore either, it’s just too much. I’ll check these out!

    Congratulations!

I’ve recently started exercising again- press ups, squats and crunches with a view to picking up the free weights when I’m ready

My creaky hips and knees are moving easier and I can feel a muscle difference in my shoulders

I’ve also stopped eating crappy food too

Here’s to a fitter and healthier us this year 👍

Heck yeah, nice. Get a set of those resistance bands too, you can use them during the day for a little extra work.

Good call! The mini stepper has resistance bands attached to it for arm workouts, but I could use some for my legs.

This is really inspirational! It’s so easy to stick in a rut, and it’s really tough starting exercise. You’ve faced it head on, and you’re doing something that will improve your health and make you feel good. Fantastic achievement, keep us updated and post anytime you need cheering on 😀
