If you count software engineering as technology, I miss forums. A ton of people all gathered together for one purpose, talking about all sortsa stuff.
Luckily those types of communities are now sequestered in private places like discord so they’re unsearchable from the general internet. /s
… Though there was that big discord scrape leak recently so maybe we’re swinging back.
Have you tried newsblur
I have not. After the collapse of reddit, I’ve been looking for places to keep up to date with niche stuff, like warhammer, PAX, boardgames and such. Lemmy helps, but it doesn’t have the wealth of content I’m looking for, so I thought to supplement it with forums, but they’re mostly dead.
I feel your pain.
What frustrates me is all the politics and negativity here. I see this complaint on r/RedditAlternatives about lemmy and people asking “Why isn’t there a non politically motivated instance?”
That would be us hilariouschaos.com and it’s like either no one knows about us or cares or probably both.
It sucks because I’d say that’s what our instance is about. We’re a fun instance, chill, not politically motivated and just want everyone to have fun.
And it’s like no one is interested in that. If you look at my posts, none of them are political. I have one unpopular opinion one about believing in God but that’s about it.
I feel everyone is just wanting something without having to help build it. If that makes any sense.
You’re not gunna have non political posts if you don’t help add to that by posting non political stuff.
I’m honestly trying. I post in funny, memes, shitty ask, ask, riddles and yea I just don’t feel people want light hearted fun.
I think most here actually want the rage bait and so forth.
I do see a lot of gaming communities here though. I’m surprised not one for the ones you mentioned.
Also, you’re more then welcome to create those communities on our instance if you’re ever interested. We appreciate the variety
Have you looked at something awful forum ?
