We’ve added a few more instances to the federation list, including the likes of lemmy.world - let’s see how we go. So far federation hasn’t been bad, so I am cautiously optimistic.

      One way to find out.

      But fr, almost anyone who defederated wolfballs is just following what they’ve been told. Wolfballs was gone before virtually every instance, there isn’t even any good reason for them to know that domain because most of these instances didn’t exist at the same time.

      Sad.

      I mean we’re not trying to be wolfballs or EH reincarnate, and we’re not an absolutist free speech instance either. I think right now HC is not that controversial, they’re more likely to defederate us because of people claiming we’re just like these past “evils” than they are to defederate us for what we actually are. I hope they can see past that, but I guess we’ll find out.

      Regardless, I don’t think we have anything to lose.

    Over 30 upvotes on one of my posts - people are seeing Hilarious Chaos content! Very wodnerful. Plus some good discussion abounding.

    I will reiterate that we should all actually try to… NOT antagonize anyone on other instances to invite defederation. I really want this to work out and help create the fediverse that has all sorts of anti-establishment people from all perspectives contributing.

    Balanced discussion, if you will, where yuo can find a wide variety of opinions.

      It is nice, and yes I completely agree with you, being antagonistic doesn’t help anything.

      I think HC right now is a desirable instance to federate with, we are content generators (which very few instances are) and we’re not trying to fight anyone or piss anyone off on purpose. Majority of our content is not political at all either.

      I think most of the instances that have de-federated us went by the “they’re just EH reincarnated” stigma and didn’t bother to look any further. I think that’s pretty silly, since we’re really not that despite many users having come from there.

      We’re always going to be a bad fit with the “super safe space” instances and that’s fair enough, but my hope is we can play together with everyone else.

      I have to admit that I’ve got one foot outside of this part of the fediverse at all times.

      With the amount of groupthink on Lemmy, I just feels like there’s a lingering threat at all times. Better step in line and not have any incorrect opinions or God help you everyone on your instance is going to get screwed over.

      It’s downright impressive how many instances defederate from fbxl lotide and narwhal.city, considering the fact that both of those instances barely engage with any other instances in the first place since there aren’t that many users.
