I’ve run many, many, many races, from 5k to marathons, to triathlons, obstacle courses, relay races, ect – and never have I once thought about breathing to avoid cramps. The only time I get cramps is when I am dehydrated. Cramps are not normal and a sign that your body is not in the condition you’re trying to force it to perform in.

If you drank too much water and you have a stomach cramp, just wait 10 minutes for the water to process and then keep moving. If you’re running a race you done fucked up and if you’re not, there’s no reason to push through a stomach cramp, and no dumb left foot right foot nonsense is going to alleviate it.

I once heard that cramps are from lactic acid and oxygen helps the lactic acid breaks down faster so breathing in time with your running helps stop lactic acid build up… I guess I’m wrong?

This doesn’t work. Cramps are from one of your organs iirc moving around more than it does in other people.
