  • I am not sure what to make of Yuri unilaterally making the decision for putting Setsu in the freezer. The time off was probably necessary for Setsu’s mental well-being, but doing so endangered everyone else of that loop (Yuri was not Gnosia and Setsu was probably not, so they reduced human count by 2).

    @rikka@ani.social :

    I get the impression Yuri feels he/she can sacrifice individual loops if necessary, whereas Setsu is more rigid and wants to follow rules and win every loop. So in the other loop, I got confused why there was a problem of sharing information with Setsu (who turned out to be Gnosia), when it might only endanger the current loop and AFAWK not future ones. Maybe getting erased is painful?

    I’m not sure I could have recalled who the members were for every past loop if I were Yuri. And I definitely can’t draw chibi characters they capture their looks nicely.

    We got a tad closer to the truth, but Yuriko said Yuri’s deduction was wrong. They also started their conversation as if it was a continuation of a few previous loops prior. Did Yuriko know about other loops or was she just bluffing? She also seemed to have a lot of information she was withholding, why?

  • This apparent SoL anime starts off showing us scenery from the city of Atami. We follow the story of Kinme Wakana, who has run a cleaning business in the neighborhood for 2 years. Cleaning was “the only thing I have not forgotten” she said casually to a customer, so she probably had a backstory which will be revealed later I guess?

    There is not much drama in the first episode (unless you consider “will the pasta sauce stain come off” as one), we are introduced to several of her customers who all seemed to be nice people, or that Wakana got on their good side through her diligence, nice manners and good work.

    The production quality was good, I wouldn’t say top-tier but definitely above average. I liked the nice backgrounds and scenery view.

    @rikka@ani.social :

    The author also wrote Umisho and Sankarea, I hope this one will stay a everyday SoL anime and Wakana was not someone reverse-isekai’d who lost her memory or something, I wouldn’t mind it too much but I’ve had my fill of isekai stories recently :)

  • I saw this happen with Hyakushou Kizoku / Noble Farmer, it was officially 3 seasons made separately, but it numbered the episodes consecutively and even included episodes not broadcast on TV within its numbering. So thetvdb labels the first episode of the second season is S02E01, while tmdb thinks that it is S01E13, but it is episode number 15 according to its in-show title.

    In the end, what is called a season is just quite arbitrary and up to the rights holders.

    My feeling is a budget / production commitee / crew is put together for each season, and even if cours were split they were planned and announced together, but this is not always true either. Two or more seasons can be planned and announced at the same time, in some cases seasons aligns with major story arcs and there can be a production time gap in the middle of an arc.

    I imagine people designing database for these stuff pulling their hairs out trying to get it right, only to have some wacky show break their assumption…… again.

  • How Arakawa-sensei was isekai’d, avoided being beheaded by her power of drawing, solved a countries’ food problem by recognizing potato flowers, escaped an overthrowing of monarchy, got a good night’s sleep and finished the 3rd season of the anime, all within the span of 4 minutes.

    @rikka@ani.social :

    I was wondering who voiced the “voice of heaven” and checked the credits, and to my surprise it was the same VA who voiced Ishii-san the editor. She sounded quite different using a different tone. Noble-Arakawa also had a portrait of Ishii (or someone looking a lot like her) in her room.
