Get them fit first, get them the tools they need to survive, then get them housed.

For folks who earn a fixed amount, either a straight hourly wage or a fixed salary… Just take the correct amount out of their paychecks and leave them the hell alone.

(Income)-(Standard Deductions)-(Housing/Mortgage credit)-(Child Credit) = X. X/Pay periods of the year is how much gets deducted per check.
We can argue about what the formula looks like, this is just an example. It shouldn’t be THAT hard to figure out.
Now, that won’t work for people with capital gains or losses, but it will work for, what? 80% of the public?
