If you are under 60, you may not know who he is. Go watch the Bob Newhart show. The comedy is very sharp. Probably a major influence on The Office and that kind of humor.
I’ve seen him in a few things. Like The Librarian.
EDIT: I should have prefaced that I’m under 40.
I use to watch him on Nick at Nite when i was about 10. Even then, i greatly enjoyed his show. Also the Dick Van Dyke show was great.
for the uninitiated, the gag “alternative ending” of breaking bad was based on the finale of one of his shows. I’m sure there are other examples but that’s the one that springs to mind
