You can literally check through Melroys comments and see every time he posted a giant rant about the current project he was on and why it’s doomed to fail because “no one listen to him” and a link to the new project he’s working on instead. Kbin, then his own instance, then Mbin. Pretty sure he claimed to be a “core Lemmy dev” at one point too. It’s all in his comment history.
