2·2 days agoMost of the United States is conservative and it will grow as we allow more immigrants in. Most immigrants are conservative. They should be actively engaging people here in good faith to learn what we think about things and why. Until they do that, they’ll keep losing in elections because they missed the pulse of the people.
I hate virtue signaling. I’m not an overly political person but the crazy left has made me be more active. The left is pushing for a civil war and lemmy/reddit has made them believe their ideas are popular. The real world just punched them in the face and that’s hard for them to deal with
I wish it was more organized but all in all it’s a good thing. We have about 2.4 million federal employees.
Most of that is a waste of tax payer money. We can’t tax our way out of this mess. We have to cut spending.
Even if we took all the money from the billionaires. Every last penny. It pays for maybe 1 year of expenses. That’s it.
I also read Reddit and even the liberals said this was stupid. They were saying what difference will a day make? Historically the left has been better at boycotts but bud light changed that. For the most part I’m against boycotts. I think they are silly. It’s virtue signaling. I don’t care if bud puts a trans woman on a can. I’m don’t drink that crap anyways. It’s also a good sobriety check. If she starts to look sexy. You should have stopped two beers ago.
I would tend to agree with him. Either waste or the wrong people handling it. I’m not opposed to all welfare programs but we have 50+ programs all done by different parts of the government. It should be one department that determines what you need and one check should be issued. So much waste in inefficiency.
I shopped like I normally do. Even if I believe in their boycott. One day doesn’t do anything.
No company would send the money to the state vs the federal government. That’s embezzlement.
It’s simple. States states have nothing to withhold from the federal government. If they tried to steal the money, that would be an insurrection and federal troops would remove their government.
That is why they are going through the courts. That’s their only option
They can’t. It’s a pure numbers game at this point and Russia has more people to throw at the problem. Unless we want to give them all our modern weapons, they can’t win.
I hate to say it but they need to negotiate. Biden and Obama screwed Ukraine and sadly, Trump has to fix it.
This is a tough one. I support Ukraine but Trump is right. The longer this drags out, the more likely it is for Ukraine to fall.
Socialism is a vague term, but if we are going to do “socialism,” the closer it is to the people, the better.
I am not against social welfare programs by default, but I am almost always against the federal government doing them. We rebelled over taxes and now we are taxed at a rate that would make the founding fathers shit themselves.

I agree. There are situations where I would vote for Biden. There is no situation in which I would vote for Kamala.
States don’t pay federal taxes. The people in the state pay taxes to the federal government.
As such they cant refuse not to pay taxes to the federal government. They never have that money to hold.
Spoiler - no. One day that was poorly planned won’t make a difference. I am actually going on a spending spree today. Has nothing to protest the ban, I’ve just been putting off some shopping till today.

Maine doesnt send money to the Feds. When you pay federal taxes, you pay them straight to the federal government and not the state. It’s a myth blue states give more than they receive.

5.1 billion. Trump is calling for all federal funds to be cut. Most likely the courts will stop that but it’s a risk.

I have good insurance and drugs prices are reasonable for me. That said, without insurance drugs prices are insane.
