  • Thank you! I like reading bizarre stuff sometimes and this sounds crazy. Another commenter said the paper was comedy gold so let’s see what it’s all about.

Edit: Best part is the last sentence of the whole paper saying patients should be offered psychological help. “yo, heard you were shoving stuff up your asshole you should not be, wanna talk about it?”

  • I’m not saying people should walk around with ar 15s but unless the dude had it shouldered and started aiming it you just go talk to them and discern their intentions. At the very least get close enough to hit your target when you shoot.

It is what it is, being armed at a protest should not be an automatic death sentence especially when it’s legal (for better or worse).

I own firearms and I think they’re too easy to get and need to be better regulated but I am not in Congress writing laws nor sitting on the Supreme Court making shitty decisions on how to read the 2nd amendment. Regardless of my opinion though I think shooting at someone and missing and hitting another person is pretty fucking egregiously bad.

I’m not a crack shot by any stretch of the imagination but it is ludicrous to me this person shot into a crowd to try to subdue a person that wasn’t posing an immediate threat. Who was surrounded by people who were not freaking out which should tell you they’re not dangerous

  • I know this is a little off topic but I’m tired of the whole “Nazis were well organized and ran things like a well oiled machine” trope because it’s just fantasy.

There were a ton of rather inept people in office, plenty of idiots running amock and the military structure was a joke where people who had no business playing commander got to make life and death decisions.

Like I really encourage anyone to just do some more reading on how the whole government and military was organized and the cascade of errors that came about because of it. There is a reason the third Reich lasted only 12 years and it’s not just because they made bad decisions in the lead up to and during world war 2.

  • Bro seriously seriously growing up all I heard was how you can’t trust the internet and the 12 year old girl you’re talking to might actually be a 300lb middle aged man.

Then, boom Facebook comes along and now apparently their whole generation forgot people lie on the internet and have no sense of media literacy. It’s insane the stuff people will believe.

  • I kind of feel like if aliens do exist and they can travel FTL and visit Earth, they probably also would belong to some organization that controls space travel and our planet would be marked as a no go zone.

We are incredibly violent apex predators who have reshaped the very planet in our image with an unending thirst for resource consumption. I feel like aliens would not want to give us access to their tech because we are dangerous.

That’s just my hunch though, in reality I have no idea. For all I know some space Mormons will show up and absolutely wreck our shit and enslave us. We’re smart enough we’d make good pets and/or work animals. Regardless, if aliens do show up and reveal themselves to us I hope they have kind intentions.

  • That sucks. Yeah, fighting is the keyword there.

I mean, I’ll put it this way, I wouldn’t recommend Samsung appliances and won’t buy them again in the future but I have not found any major problems with mine five years on (save the fridge).

I agree though that there are enough bullshit problems that pop up and having a severe lack of good customer service is a combo that’s steering me away from Samsung. However, they are ubiquitous for a reason.

  • I think their appliances are a lot like the rest of their tech. If you get a good one it’s solid for years and years, but God help you if you get a shitty one because their customer service is garbage.

Also idk what crack or other drug their engineer was on that designed the ice box in my freezer but it literally is made in a way that constantly causes problems with ice build up and not being able to dispense ice because of it.

But I will say all the rest of my Samsung appliances and even the fridge aside from that ice box bullshit have been going strong.

I think they also have crap quality control, it reminds me a lot of anything Alienware I’ve owned. Still using a mouse from 15 years ago but also had a keyboard from them die right around the one year mark and it was impossible to get any help from their support.

While I’m ranting huge shout out to turtle beach who’s customer support and care was exceptional. My dog chewed through my headset wires and they shipped me a new one no cost.

  • the major difference is China hasn’t bombed anyone or established overseas military bases… yet. Anything can happen in the future.

It’s worth noting that is changing. They have two overseas military installations now and a lot of their commercial ports are set up for dual use so they could use them for wartime navy if needed.

But I do still think China is much more interested in economic soft power vs the USA who’s power projection is oftentimes “help us or we’re just gonna take what we want with force.”

Obviously that’s a huge oversimplification of a very complex topic just thought it was worth mentioning China has some overseas military force projection capabilities but they’re very limited.

I mean, the USA can basically move the equivalent of most nations military to anywhere on the planet in less than a week. It’s pretty crazy. But I think we are going to see some serious shake ups in the navy with new tech, carriers are great but it takes a lot to support them and some hypersonic missile batteries could probably make it through current defense systems. I’m not sure we’ll ever see a large scale naval battle on the open seas ever again but if that day does come it’s going to be real interesting except for, you know, all the deaths.
