  • I’m not sure a license is the best way to go about it, but I certainly do think something needs to change.

I believe there should be some sort of minimum commitment to training if a person gets a new dog, i.e. you can have a puppy but you must have already booked up x amount of training sessions, and have vets appointments booked in.

And with cats, it’d like to see pre-booked appointments for neutering/spaying and microchipping, because apparently according to my neighbours, you can buy kittens, not do any of that and then just let them be feral around your neighbourhood and not really have to take care of them at all.

I’d actually like to see legislation on new cats not being let outside unless contained in a catio or something.

  • Not much out that I’m looking to play, there’s some slightly older survival games that I might have a go with like valheim and enshrouded. I’ve been told the new Dune survival game is good, but when I asked what the hook was, I was told it was “Dune like”, which doesn’t do a lot for me, though if anyone has any feelings on it I’ll happily listen.

There’s some new factory builder that looks like satisfactory but with wave defence like factorio, I’m very interested in that but forgot the name.

I’m also interested in the new hello games game (light no fire or something) but I imagine that’s a few years out yet.

I like playing games with my friends (rather than against them), and I like stuff that basically lasts as long as we want to play, survival games are great for my group because of that and 7 days to die will always be one of my faves.

Any recommendations for things I should look out for are appreciated. (already had our fill of Ark, Grounded, 7 Days, Empyrion, Minecraft)

  • When I was a kid, if I wanted to ride to school, my school required that I pass a cycling proficiency test, which taught me about road laws and where and how I was supposed to position my bike on the road to stay safe.

I’d love to see a cycling and small electric vehicle proficiency course be part of our school curriculum.

There are always going to be people that ignore the rules of the road (I nearly got hit by a car today who didn’t give way to the right on a roundabout, I was watching him, he didn’t even look!), but I don’t see how adding this in schools could cause harm.

  • Fully agree, I also have safety concerns (if they hit you, you’re going underneath, not over the top) and driver competency concerns (i’d probably have more vehicle categories for testing, I find it ridiculous that someone learns in a nissan Micra and then goes out and buys a land rover and that’s just fine, the vehicle is much larger, the amount of vans that have hit my fence because they can’t turn around easily in my cul-de-sac is getting ridiculous, I’d also like to shout out the fucking moron who bumped his suv onto the cycle path the other day without looking causing me to have to break really hard because I nearly ran into the thing, he wasn’t a good enough driver to turn it around on the road, I did shout at him he should think about getting a smaller car that he can actually handle)

  • I really think there should be some sort of disincentive to purchasing vehicles this large, increased taxes, insurance premiums, extra testing and licenses etc.

The main problem really is their height, if you get hit by a regular car, you’re usually flung over the top, if your hit by one of these, due to the height of the bonnet you’re probably going underneath it, which is going to be worse in the majority of cases.

I could understand owning one if you’ve got a big family and loads of dogs and work on a farm, or even if you’re just a big fan of of off-roading, but if your massive 4x4 thing is clean and usually has less than 6 seats filled, you probably don’t need one.

As a cyclist I have an extra grudge against them because they’re so wide they never leave enough space when passing, more than once my bike has been forced into a pothole because I didn’t have space to go around it. That and most drivers just fucking suck, I had a guy drive straight up onto the cycle path in front of me the other day because the road wasn’t wide enough for him to do a 3 point turn, but he didn’t look and nearly I nearly smashed right into him.

I shouldn’t have to dodge 4x4s on the fucking cycle path. I’m still a little angry about that. While I’m having a moan, put your dog on a fucking lead, I’ve almost hit 2 dogs in the past month, one when a dog ran out into the road, and one where they ran out into the middle of the cycle path, both times because there weren’t on a lead and their owners were paying no attention. It’s really not my problem that you chose to have a dog nowhere near a park, the cycle path is not a fucking dog park.

  • The problem with Amazon is they will list and deliver any product under the sun, the organisation as a whole should have been forced to split by the Competition and Markets Authority years ago, but it wasn’t and now they basically have a monopoly on online sales. So it depends on what you’re after. Groceries? Try a supermarket like Tesco. Books? Try Waterstones. Electronics? Currys (awful though). Weird cables and adapters? Maplins still have a website.
