You must be really likeable. People downvoted the shit out of me on Reddit. I always hoped people didn’t hate what I said enough to downvote that much in real life.

Trump’s election is what did it for me. That and Reddit’s user experience had become so watered down with slop and bad content presentation in general. I’ve unsubscribed from Amazon, no Paypal, deleted Facebook, stopped using Gmail mostly (still working on that), deleted Instagram, stopped watching CNN, stopped allowing tracking and fingerprinting as much as possible. If your site tracks, I’m using another unless it is reasonable for the application.

Since then, on my phone, I use FOSS browser, NextDNS, Eternity for Lemmy, Pixelfed and Mastodon. For all my searching, I started using Swisscows, but now I am searching with SearxNG. Also, I am trying Proton, Tutanota, and kollabnow for email. Got Arch Linux on laptop because Microsoft tracking and snooping is so far out of control it should be illegal 50 different ways.

Fuck those techbros. This is now our civic duty.

Psychopaths are disproportionally represented in corporate executive positions. Most billionaires are psychopaths. The US has been run by psychopaths since I was born. That’s why we’re giving hundreds of billions of dollars to parasitic corps to fight stupid wars that nobody wants or agrees with. That’s why we’re not doing enough about climate change. They’re causing deaths constantly.

What research? There are lots of folks with crippling debts. I know tons of people who will never be rid of their’s. As an engineer, I have never known job security. Who wamts to worry about losing their job every day? But I notice plenty of guys making a lot more than me since trades have a serious shortage of workers. Electricians around here charge whatever they want because there is not enough of them. Hospitals around here are bought up by one entity, so nurses can’t quit and make more money elsewhere. Teachers are quitting in droves such that it’s become a national crisis. But then there are plumbers making 6 figures.

The point is to correct it, not to abort.

This is literally us watching the end of our species because they exist.

If they wanted to address the education gap, wouldn’t they? Why would they want to when trades provide more money, no lost income for 4-5 years, or a crippling debt? Women are at a disadvantage there. I mean, I definitely don’t want to minimize overlooked hardships, but…
