The argument in that article is basically “Most calculators do it this way now, so that must be our convention to use, so 16 is the correct answer. Please ignore that this goes against the conventions established before calculators became transistorized.”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Diagrammatic Chess (Western, Chinese, Japanese) Options around the world?
1·1 day agoBecause the question takes a backseat to showcasing the OP’s product link. They aren’t trying to sell us on some carnivore product though (as seems to be their normal posting mode), so it was probably an accident. I guess once you start selling bullshit non-stop it’s hard to stop sounding that way. The way they were so quick to pull and regurgitate those stats about you was a real internet marketer move though. Sneaky of you to trick them into exposing how creepy they are.
The article
you keep linkingdisagrees.Although having given its name to the word henge, Stonehenge is atypical in that the ditch is outside the main earthwork bank.
An atypical example of something is still a “true” example of the thing, especially given that the very term derives its origin from Stonehenge itself.
Edit: Oops, mistook 2 basic pedants regurgitating trivia as the same person.

That’s a subtly and nuance that will be lost on A LOT of people. Clearly it’s a distinction that OP’s roommate is not ready to confront, which probably tells us something about the attitudes of his family as well. But, in the end, it’s rarely so simple as chucking someone into a bin for convenient stereotyping based on one person’s story about another person’s feelings.
Almost all of those characters are present in the wedding scene at the beginning.
Rocky Horror Picture Show: Channing Tatum or John Cena or something to play Rocky, everyone else is a Muppet. Because no human alive could ever replace Tim Curry, but we could maybe use all of Tim Curry’s original work to voice a Muppet.

2·13 days agoBeing able to fold down a larger “sheet” display so that it fit in a pocket would be pretty cool. Having extra room for reading things like maps and comic books is so much better than pinching and zooming on a pocket sized display. What you call limited purpose, I call functional design. I’m kind of over all-in-one devices. They’ve turned into Jack of all trades, but master of none.
Obviously that’s not what this device is, but it got me thinking about why I’d want a device with multiple e-ink displays or a foldable display.

And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

21·16 days agoIt’s okay, you don’t need to beat the poor lame joke to death just because YOU didn’t get it. It’s okay to just let it go.
What am I gonna do with a bushel of to tomatoes?
But, seriously, my biggest issue with buying from “real” farmer’s markets is the gas and time I spend getting there and the ease of buying WAY more than I will realistically be able to actually eat before it goes bad. It’s so easy to buy too much (For me anyway, that 's probably just a me problem).
No. Soulseek is old school P2P. All you need to do is run the client software, set a local shared folder, and your are client and server in one. Funkwhale is more like running your own Lemmy instance and building a community. The difference between them is like the difference between using Airdrop or Syncthing to share files and hosting hosting your own domain and server.
Your bizarre logic isn’t even self consistent. I guess I should have known better than to question someone who also thinks holding kinves on a swinging door with magnets is a good idea. You and your kitchen are going to hurt someone.
Just like guessing the temperature of the inside of things and instead opt to only get the temperature at the surface of things? That doesn’t sound great for most kitchen related temperature readings.

Now. That’s pretty much the situation now. If you don’t believe me, try and completely remove Edge and Copilot from an updated Windows 11.
