Capitalism rewards greed (or more accurately capital accumulation). It doesn’t reward evil, evil is a side effect of prizing capital accumulation above any moral framework. Like the paperclip maximizer, capitalism is cold, calculating, and without morals, resulting in one thing: maximization of profit.
If, in some parallel universe, the best way to maximize capital accumulation were to ensure well-being for everyone (stay with me here), then that is what the bourgeoisie would do. They are not evil, they are amoral.

Cool. That’s completely unrelated to what they said
And over a hundred comments. Where the hell did all this come from?

Metaverse is a (imo cringe) term for VR experiences in general, but in particular VR social experiences. Facebook changed their name to Meta specifically to try to brand themselves as the metaverse company, it wasn’t the other way around.

Modern studies using freezers with well-understood properties have observed the Mpemba effect where water supercools before freezing. Water that starts out cooler tends to reach a lower supercooled temperature before freezing.
Also from the Wikipedia article.
If you define the Mpemba effect as hot water reaching 0 degrees faster, then no, it’s not observable. But if you define the Mpemba effect as heated water freezing sooner, (remembering that freezing can initiate below the “freezing point” when water is subcooled) then the Mpemba effect may be observed.
If true, it would be interesting that cool water is less likely to nucleate and form ice than water that was heated.

Right but the actual quantities are arbitrary. A metre is a fixed fraction of the speed of light in a vacuum, but it’s an arbitrary fraction chosen because it was convenient. We could just as well have chosen it to be half or twice as long. Same with the second. And the kilogram, etc.
wtf they’re like 50¢/lb here

I’ve discovered a fundamental flaw in this study. A few reasons people use carrots is that they are cheap, and they are discreet. Presumably this variant would be significantly more expensive. Also, nobody thinks you’re buying a regular to pleasure yourself, not the cashier, not your wife.

Most humans have 3 working types of colour receptors that roughly correspond to red, green, and blue. A small number of people have a fourth, letting them see colours we can’t even conceive of. My friend has this and it makes me jealous.
Much easier to start if you know there are 3600 seconds in an hour. 36 is 9×4 and 100 is 10×5×2. Then 24 hours is 8×3, and 6 weeks gives you 6×7 (hand gesture).
