EU membership surely would come have with minority rights, so I don’t see the point in blocking.

Uh, do go on. What sort of satellite capabilities? How do you use those?

I don’t mind lagging a bit behind the newest specs, I just want something that lasts for longer. It’s also bad for the planet. That’s more important to me than the next shiny thing.

Well, if you want a step forward in getting a phone woth mainline kernel support, look at Fairphone. They at least pay someone on their staff to work on mainlining.
Not like Google, that just throws a small piece of a device tree over the fence and lets the community do all the hard work.
Also, Fairphones are repairable phones while those from Google aren’t made for repairs.

Well, basic support.
Stuff like UART and booting up.
This does not mean screen, touch, modem, wifi, USB and so on work.

Fairphone might just lack certification from Industry Canada, limiting direct sales to Canada.
Regardless whether that’s the case or not, Canada and the EU should make sure CE declaration and IC certification get mutually recognised.
Reduce trade barriers, fight authoritarianism through cooperation.

If you order from another place you’d be importing.
If, for example, you order something from China to somewhere in the European customs union, directly from China and not a European company, you’d be the importer and as such are responsible for following your country’s regulations.
Imagine being a seller and someone from another country, perhaps one you don’t know much about and one that is not in a customs union with the country you are in, orders something from you. There’s no reason you would have to comply with regulations of that country.

Huh. What is your plan to keep up with future updates and debugging?

Working “on Nura”? You link to github.com
The title is misleading.
You clearly got it working with a Nura, but not “on Nura”.
Or am I just unable to find that in the Nura repos anywhere?

All run the same kernel. I’d just choose by the repos and whether I can trust the project to still be there in a month and build a reliable OS and that’s where Debian wins for me.
Other distros might be fine, too. I just don’t know them as well.

With a system that is several years old: Just flash it again.

BTW, there’s also !nura@lemmy.world now :)

Well, as a politician I’d say sharing of intelligence would be necessary, but idk. I don’t know much about apy agency stuffm xD

Yup.
Outside 14 Eyes
Gibraltar is controlled by the UK, surely it can’t be outside of the 14 Eyes if the UK is part of the 14 eyes.
Humans know that, LLMs just generate stuff without knowing anything.

I’m sure we have some tiny uninhabited islands no one cares about. :D
EDIT: If I had some land, I’d make it all Canadian and then ask for dual citizenship in return. Couldn’t hurt to have another passport, I guess. xD

So you’re still drawing arbitrary political lines.
That’s what this is all about.
Morocco and Turkey both have culture, economic and political incompatibilities with the EU that Canada has avoided itself.
Turkey could have become a member, but their president takes the country further away from that course.
If a country meets the eu requirements what does it matter where it’s situated.
A vote is required. The location does matter if that’s the opinion the member states that will reject a proposal to have a country join the EU.

It can’t become a full member. The rules clearly state that countries must physically be in Europe.
This could only happen if we change the rules and for that we’d need to agree on that and… well, politics.
No, alt text is not dumb. People might rely on screen readers.
Thanks, if I report it on my own instance I’m sending a report to myself (for some reason), so that’s not helpful. :)
Look at the first part of the sentence:
import is right there, you are apparently not allowed to import it under Canadian law.
Canadian law can, of course, not stop a company in another country from following different laws.
