  • Huh, I don’t really have much advise to that, but it’s an understanble reaction. I gotta say that there have been times my first reaction to a reply has been negative, but upon rereading it I have noticed that it was just my reaction. I like that here I learn new stuff every day and that people are willing to politely correct me (/share their opinion or experience on the matter.) I hope you find your place, if not here then maybe on some other site!

  • At first, I was very cautious here. After Reddit, I was expecting that people would go through post histories and attack me for misunderstandings and call me an AI bot, like some users do in sites like Reddit… But no. I haven’t had any issues, even when I have put out more controversial opinions or asked dumb questions. I have gotten downvoted occasionally when I have been wrong or misunderstood, which is fair. I have gotten replies from people with different opinions, but they have been polite and sticked in the topic, which is fucking amazing. I haven’t had a single even slightly unpleasant interaction so far.

Folk here have been very helpful, polite, funny or neutral. I’m actually becoming more brave at posting and commenting, and I no longer feel fearful/unpleasant when I see that I have an unread notification. Of course there are communities I have blocked or instances that I avoid but that’s just to curate my feeds.

In a way, probably. Our conservative party would like to quit public healthcare and go into a system with health insurances and only private, for-profit hospitals. They’d like get rid of public schools and imply yearly payments. Some of them would like to sell our groundwater to foreign countries as they have already done with out electric grid and postal services. They want to, and have, weakened labor laws and made it easier to fire people without proper reasons. They’re weakening unions. Hell, our conservative prez golfs with Trump. And not to even start with out nationalist party… Or the Christian party.

Absolutely agree. I think it would be kinda understandable for something that requires +1 university degrees and pays like +3k€ a month… But for a grocery store clerk making about 1,5k€/month? Nahh.

// EDIT; Finland is the true MAGA-Fanboy of EU.

My local chain grocery store has asked us, local people, multiple times to apply as we have been shopping and slightly chatting with the staff. We have applied via the chain’s systems. And yes, they expect you to send your CV and a written letter. Then you write out all the info in your CV to their forms. Then you take 5-10 videos of yourself answering their questions.

If you make through this, you get to the Second Level. There you’re supposed to attend a Teams group meeting where you “fight” with random people who are also applying for the jobs, in different locations.

If you get through this, you get to the Third Level where you will be invited to another Teams meeting with one-on-one interview. If you get through this, you might get the job.

The job search is obviously not done by the local store, it’s a “service” the chain buys from some other company. None of us have gotten through. The store seriously needs employees, they have the “search” constantly open and keep asking the locals to apply. The store has too little workers, it’s not working properly. Shelves are unstocked, fruits rotten, staff is cranky and angry. The boss complains in local newspaper that “the locals just aren’t applying for some reason!”

  • Upvoted for being unpopular.

I mean this would be wonderful but I’m not counting on it. I have given up with the AAA’s, there is plenty of wonderful, reasonably priced indie games what will run on a toaster. It’s a decision to buy the Good New Games Everyone Wants To Play and to build a strong enough PC to run them.

// EDIT; To add in, isn’t the future in cloud-gaming where you no longer own the PC/Laptop or the game? Just subscriptions after subscriptions?

  • I love dogs, even had one growing up. But my neighbor has these Lapphunds (he got them for his kid but the kid moved away yeeaars ago and left the dogs with the dad) and he can’t handle them. No training, leaves them in the summer heat, don’t take them for walks, keeps them loose so they yap and even try to bite people walking by. Not joking, I have almost gotten bitten once and they attacked my late-dog multiple times as well as my friends coming to my house. And those dogs yap constantly, all the time they’re outside which is most of the day. Just this constant whining, screaming, howling, yapping and barking. He has told me that he can’t get them to behave. Yeah, I’m aware. But they’re getting old now so maybe max 3 years and it will be quiet here again…
