Yeah, I use the laptop without a mouse a lot - I don’t love carrying it around, and I sit on a couch a fair bit. The lack of a middle button like my lenovo has is annoying (but this is also an OS and shortcut thing - no middle-click selection paste in MacOS, and no middle click to close tab either).

I wouldn’t touch an apple mouse with a ten foot pole 😅

Thanks, that’s decent advice. Actually I think the different feel of the keyboard already does that to some extent. No so much the mouse, but that’s an easier fix.

Yeah, the Cmd/Ctrl thing is the worst so far, because many of the combinations use the same letters, but the chord key is in a different place. But that also seems like the hardest thing to change…

Wow, interesting. I can tolerate a bit of gore reading (I think I just zone out on the worst of it). I don’t enjoy it in film at all.

I generally avoid horror films. There’s one that has stuck with me horribly, and I wish I’d never seen it (The Ruins). Didn’t enjoy some parts of Annihilation either.

Possible I’ve just never read any really bad scenes though…

It sounds interesting… It also sounds like it will fail, because Mozilla seems to think that trackers are primarily interested in collecting ad stats, and that targeted advertising is less critical, but I think in reality it’s the other way around, and advertisers won’t accept such a limited solution.

Yeah! The latest short novel (Dawnshard) also deals with disability in a great way. He really did his research (he had multiple disabled beta readers give feedback)

Pratchett himself did not recommend reading discworld in order. The first two books are by far the weakest of the series (although still very fun). There are guides that recommend starting points, like this:

Anything by Terry Pratchett (look for one of the “where to start” guides). Funny, a bit ridiculous, but always super intelligent with lots of good social commentary.

Ursula Le Guin has lots of bangers. Slow burning sci-fi with deep atmosphere and social philosophy. Any of her Hainish books are good for that. Earthsea series is beautiful. The Birthday Of The World is my favourite short stories book.

Neuromancer by William Gibson if you’re into cyberpunk.

UNSONG if you’re keen on religion-themed absurd fantasy. It’s amazing. Good Omens by Pratchett and Gaiman is also great on that front.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Fictional account of the dustbowl migration in the US. It will make you righteously angry, especially when you realise the same shit is still happening in other ways.
