It’s interesting who can and cannot see lemmy displaynames. This is my Dolphinfucker420 account lol. @Sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml is my main (though this one is my original) but I made all my accounts around the same time a few years ago on different instances. I use displaynames to differentiate them. Some people see them and some don’t.

It really depends on the field. They are more common the “hard” sciences like physics, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, etc. STEM basically.
They also exist in the social sciences like history and athropology but are farrrrr less common

Station eleven had a really unique format. You could say there were multiple main characters from different timelines but I would almost argue there was not a “main” character. All of them were super fascinating in their own right and the transitions between them, and their timelines, was incredibly smooth. I didn’t find it confusing at all and I normally do with books formatted like this.

One time when I had a sinus infection they gave me a bottle of essentially just dxm but the syringe they gave me to measure the dose didn’t fit in the bottle so I just took a swig whenever and let me tell you that was genuinely the happiest week of my life. I’ve never felt so at peace. Granted there was a lot else going on like I was essentially being paid hundreds of dollars to just feed someone’s dog and take them outside on a really nice plot of land but the drugs made it a lot better I swear.
My daughter has a good relationship with food and has never needed an automatic feeder to avoid overeating. We just keep a bowl out and she eats when she wants. Feeding isn’t really bonding unless it is something she wants to taste or smell off my plate.
