I love to travel in Europe. They all have their special place in my heart.
The fantastic beer and variations across countries. The architecture and languages. The varied cuisine 👩🍳👨🍳 Bikes, weed and shrooms ❤️ 🇳🇱 Bathing and chilling in the sun. Everywhere is pretty much safe (some exceptions, but in general). The gorgeous rural areas. Wine. People are generally really friendly. People say that Germans and French people don’t speak English to them, but that is not my experience, I have yet to meet a single European not go out of their way to help and be nice to me. Some have been in a hurry, but are still nice. Most people tend to appreciate the interest in their culture, their recommendations and their opinions.
I love you all, my fellow Europeans ❤️🇪🇺🇳🇴
we have mountains here so we always went to the mediterranean obviously. a ship cruise and flying would be cool.
Well, about 20 years ago, just before we got married, my wife and I decided that we would retire to Italy.
The plan:
- Spend an entire year touring the country
- Stop for a week or so at every little place that grabs our fancy
- At the year end, pick a spot
- Must include olive tree (my requirement)
- Profit (measured in quiet retirement that includes trips to the local village for coffee and / or wine and food with visits from children and grandchildren)
Our reason for Italy is fairly straightforward: Love the people, great weather, incredible food, the wine (c’mon), the chill lifestyle, absolutely beautiful country.
Where did you guys land in Italy?
Ah I’ve been there a good few times and seen North to mid-South on the west side. My first trip there with my wife (girlfriend at the time) was designed to impress. I booked the whole thing - We started at lake Como then down to Milano. Best pizza of my life, hands down.
Other trips have included an F1 race which was so fun because Ferrari won with an Irish driver, Rome, Pompeii, Napoli, etc.
My best friend growing up has Italian blood so I got shown around properly at a young age. Loved the vibe generally.
Oh and there was one place called the five towns or something. Holy God. 👌
Must have been '98 with Eddie Irvine, and Cinque Terre. 👌🏻
Separate reply, are you Italian? Otherwise that’s some F1 memory
Haha no I only knew it could probably only be Irvine and it got me curious so I had to look it up :)
Ha! Well fair play to you. I honestly didn’t realise it was that long ago and it was a pleasant surprise. I was still in college.
We went out after and got absolutely polluted along with every Italian in the country.
