I’ve been reading a lot of comments lately about people getting banned for really mundane things. Some as much as upvoting a comment.
My 11 year old reddit account got banned. I still don’t know exactly what I said but I believe it was for talking about the US invading Canada and how we Canadians would fight back.
I think the funniest thing was getting banned from r/politics for posting two lines from the lyrics of Kidnap the Sandy Claws - a song from a kids movie Nightmare Before Christmas. A KIDS MOVIE!
“Kidnap the Sandy Claws, throw him in a box. Bury him for ninety years, then see if he talks”
I don’t even remember the context of posting it, but it was about Santa Claus. You know, a fictional character.
Pathetic.
I got banned for saying the dude that cut a guys throat with his stake should get banned for life from the game of hockey and got to jail. The mod banned me for 3 days and I said I stand by my comment and then I got a permaban. Fuck reddit.
I called malaria trump a whore.
Like, she fucked a decrepit orange ogre for money.
Edit, lol, malaria. Keeping that. Fitting.
Malaria. Love it. I’m going to use this because I can never remember her name.
I’ve been permabanned multiple times for fairly innocuous comments. The most egregious was getting banned for typing “whyteboi victimhood.” Mod said I was racist/sexist. I am a white male.
My most recent ban was for threatening violence for typing that I wish I could “stomp out” anti-intellectualism. Such a violent threat from me.
I stopped keeping track I also haven’t logged in for almost two years.
Shit, when did they take away Apollo? 2-3 years ago now? That’s when I permanently fucked off.
Almost two years ago. June 2023. The day they announced their fuckery was the last day I logged on.
I got a temporary suspension / time out for using the word retard in a scientifically accurate, non-offensive context. In a conversation about dealing with mold, I made a suggestion on how to retard fungal growth. Unbeknownst to me, there had been a very recent site wide rule added about using slurs and apparently it’s a slur to retard the growth of mold. When you get a suspension like that, there’s no way to appeal it (or at least they obfuscate the ability to do so).
Suggesting anyone wearing one of Kanye’s new swastika shirts, be punched immediately.
I got a 3 day ban once when that Fuentes fuck was getting doxxed because I sarcastically said “won’t anyone think of the poor nazis”
My final post that got me perma banned was “Nazi scum must die”
Reddit stands by nazis I guess.
It is always, and I mean ALWAYS morally correct to punch a nazi
There was an edgy meme posted by le redditors about something like ‘why don’t we just kill sadness from inside out’ and replied ‘yeah with a gun’ and I got perma banned for harassment.
On a post about a local company not wanting to serve LGBT folks… i said, vote with your wallets. Let the free market decide their fate. Apparently anything short of wanting to burn the place to the ground is considered bigotry.
I got banned more than once for literally symmetrically repeating a comment calling to violence, inverted. The original comment’s author wouldn’t get banned, I would. Right of Sunnis to genocide everyone else in the Middle-East is protected, but not right of anyone else to genocide Sunnis, for example. Turkish nationalists are just as protected as Sunnis. Also a few emotional comments about people sticking their nose where they shouldn’t and the reaction to that not being protest got me banned. All kinda political.
Also a few comments which were not specific enough to get their meaning without participating in a discussion, which nobody did, unlike hitting the report button. Typical Reddit.
Basically it’s everything which can be interpreted as calls to violence or support of bigotry, except for approved kinds of violence and bigotry, and these are allowed of all degrees, and I mean all. You get banned for a slur, while someone else casually calls for genocide and doesn’t get banned.
TLDR - talking politics in such places is useless and unpleasant.
Someone else posted that they wanted to fire Bezos off in a rocket never to return. I replied that it would be more appropriate to float him down the Amazon. My comment (and only mine) was banned for “inciting violence”.
I said we used to have a method of dealing with traitors
I forgot to add a photo to a post I wrote, so I deleted it and reposted with the image. It was about a tree seedling. Shadow banned.
I said i hope Jill Stein bangs her shin on a coffee table.
I am guessing it was the second half. “You pulled a three year old account of the mothballs to post something that stupid? Your mother should have gone through with her Planned Parenthood appointment.”
