He’s also become a bit of a nut job in recent years unfortunately

Edit: because he’s been a shithead for longer than I realised

        Not especially recent:

Around the same time as Britpop exploded, Morrissey began getting pictures taken draped in the British flag; he also began making disparaging remarks about immigration. Hell, he even wrote a song called ‘The National Front Disco’. But while Morrissey’s views always gained column inches, as his music waned and the singer’s original fandom began to find themselves in bank manager positions, he began to find his place in the press less and less often.

So basically, Morrissey has been upfront about being a racist fuck for a very long time.

Damn that was a blind spot. I was under the impression it was only the past half a decade or so that he’d gotten that shitty

You wouldn’t be alone in either not knowing or forgetting. It seems to be regularly forgotten that Eric Clapton is also a racist.

Give The Smiths a go if you’re intrigued. It’s the band that he broke out of, and personally I prefer more of that compared to his solo stuff (though he does have a few bangers, but the aforementioned nut-jobbery means I don’t really play much of his solo work these days)

Back when I was young, I put The Used - On My Own on in the car and my mother said, “This guy is really overly emotional. It’s like his dog just died.”

I thought she didn’t understand how hard it was to have a break up. Now grown up, yep, I get it. I hear that song now and I’m just embarrassed lol.
