The White House has dug in on its refusal to return a man who US officials have acknowledged was wrongly deported last month to an El Salvador mega-prison.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt doubled down on accusations that Salvadoran national Kilmar Ábrego García was a member of the MS-13 gang.

Leavitt also accused the 29-year-old of domestic violence, citing records showing his US citizen wife once filed a protective order against him.

A Maryland judge has ordered President Donald Trump’s administration to bring Mr Ábrego García back to the US. But El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said on a visit to the White House this week that he did not “have the power” to return him.

The judge did not say that. The judge said they couldn’t send him back to El Salvador

SCOTUS did not. SCOTUS is the final say. Go read what scotus said. They just said he needs to be removed from El Salvador. SCOTUS was clear he doesn’t need to be returned to the United States.

SCOTUS returned it to the Maryland courts for clarification after saying that so respectfully maybe it’s you that needs to read what they said.

They just said he needs to be removed from El Salvador.

SCOTUS ordered the government to remove him from El Salvador and

ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.

                That requires his return.

No it doesn’t. It just means they can send him elsewhere. The courts have already said this is true.

The courts haven’t even issued a deportation order. The only court order relevant to Garcia is the withholding order in 2019, which should habe kept him in the US. There is no deportation order. He was not deported. He was sent to El Salvador under an illegal use of the Alien Enemies act, not a deportation order.

The courts have not said that he could be sent anywhere else. Attempting to send him anywhere else violates US and International law, as well as human rights. The only place the US can send him is Maryland.

Every day he is not in Maryland, the US government is going to be paying him damages. A lot of damages. He and his family are going to get rich off of this. How much are you going to pay him?

The order properly requires the Government to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.

SCOTUS was pretty clear that he needs to be returned to Maryland. Stop trolling.

I’ll even highlight the section from the ruling.

That’s already been decided. His ass is deported. Try reading the actual ruling from the court. It does say whey you claim at all.

You just (poorly) highlighted the exact text that I quoted, the exact text that requires him to be returned to Maryland.

He still had legal status and a work permit and was deported with no charges or trial. You think the party of “law and order” would take exception to this.

Why would I be upset that he wasn’t charged for a criminal violation when it’s a civil dispute? He’s already seen a judge and was cleared for deportation which is a civil process.

                He’s in prison.

Did you ever read that part of the constitution that requires due before being deprived of life, liberty or property?

He has not been convicted of any crime, yet he was taken from a country and imprisoned. “Due process” granted him asylum in the US, yet he is now imprisoned in a country where his life is in danger.

If you aren’t upset about this, you either aren’t paying attention, or you are complicit.

He had no valid deportation order. He had a valid judgment from 2019 ordering that he not be deported.

This is not disputed by the administration. They admitted in court that they violated the asylum order. You have no legitimate basis to be making that claim.

Mostly because they’re stupid but the left complaint is that he was sent to El Salvador when the court said he couldn’t be sent there. That is a legit issue and needs to be resolved
