    Yes.

In fact, I’d say that among all Star Wars TV shows it’s the one which makes the most sense to someone who is unfamiliar with wider Star Wars lore.

Andor is a very independent entity, and everything you need to know to enjoy the show is encapsulated within the show itself.

The only problem watching Andor first is that it’s so good, everything else will feel disappointing in comparison.

Are you starting on the very first episode? Very jealous.

Can’t wait to hear what you think.

Hope you enjoy, if you dig it the Mandalorian was really good too more of a samurai western kung fu style serial where Andor is more political spy thriller

You definitely can - might not hurt to have a little Star Wars knowledge prior to watching it, but it’s a good standalone.

If you do watch Andor (and enjoy it), you should check out Rogue One afterwards as the two very much tie together and have a similar ‘vibe’.

The only ‘downside’ of having Andor (and Rogue One if you watch it) be your only exposure to Star Wars is that the rest of the media is very different and might not be as enjoyable.

    Yes.

The very basics of the universe is that there was a republic that lasted thousands of years, but then was toppled and a totalitarian regime was instituted (The Empire.) After 20 years, a group of rebels toppled The Empire and made a new republic.

Andor takes place during the 20 years of the empire, focusing on the formation of the rebellion. It is significantly lower fantasy than most of Star Wars, which features characters who can channel mystical powers (The Force.) The Force is almost completely absent from Andor. A lot of people who don’t really like the supernatural elements like Andor for that reason.

absolutely yes. the connections to the events in star wars are pretty much all fan service, it excels on its own. the tricky thing about making a prequel is when it ends up better than the original.

Yes. It’s probably an even more interesting experience going in blind to the universe because you have no idea which characters are safe, or the bigger directions of certain plot points.

Of all the Star Wars shows past the original trilogy, this is the show worth watching the most, if you do not care for the world of Star Wars.
