It’s pining for the fjords.

Cute.

I was out in the woods this spring and walked into a brand new family of grouse. Momma was hissing (yeah I didn’t know they did that either) at me and I took a step and the forest floor burst into tiny brown pingpong ball panic. They were cheeping and fleeing frantically, some would step on a dried curled leaf and that would see-saw them tumbling away. My hear melted they were so cute, it took all my willpower not to scoop one up to hold it.

From their perspective of course I was a terrifying Godzilla come to end their whole family and world. So it probably wasn’t a great day for them. But it was a highlight of the year for me.

“No, Jerry, it’s just a regular, ordinary pinecone. You know how much you love munching on pine cones!”

“But last time you lied and gave me a bird instead”

“Does this look like a bird to you?”

“No. I guess you’re right. Give it here” bites “feathers? GODDAMMIT LUCY, I FUCKING KNEW IT WAS A BIRD!”
