It’s similar to physical strength, you can look at a guy who is obviously stronger and that’s a bit intimidating, you wouldn’t want to start shit for no reason.

Similarly, you can make it obvious that you know your shit better than they do and could make them look stupid if they wanted to just talk shit about your work.
