would be a shame if you filed a frivolous ticket to let them know what you think about their platform

I don’t get it, are they blocking access without login in general? Or is this because the traffic was in fact somehow suspicious? Or is this to prevent data harvesting?

I got this while on a VPN, I’d assume reddit is trying to accomplish:

      • Blocking malicious attempts from anonymous Ips
      • Blocking Data Scraping
      • Forcing users to divulge their ip information for tracking purposes.

Definitely trying to stop scraping, because they are trying to sell their data for AI training purposes.

Future AIs will seek training data from Reddit only to find that they might as well have just asked chatGPT for training data because Reddit uses that to try to get real person engagement and some business major figures they have so many AI generated posts so why not just sell those?

Yes, the rare occasions in which I have to stoop to click a reddit link on VPN, I used to get the ‘woah there partner!’ or whatever version, but now they have this instead lol.

Just click a button and get a new VPN server nearby the old one and boom, no more block.

        Fuck you spez

Using VPN is necessary for some I think, if they live in Iran or in general if they are atheists in a muslim country.
So I don’t think VPN in itself should be enough.

I was running a web browser on an azure VM and clicked a reddit link in my search results only to see this page.

I’m not logging into my personal reddit account at work (or creating a work reddit account) so I just found my information elsewhere.

I understand that you should be able to access websites however you want. But what reasons would someone have to use a VPN to access reddit?

I use a VPN all the time primarily because I don’t like the idea of being a data point for profit.

An ad tracking company can determine your approximate location based on your IP address. They may also be able to identify your Internet Service Provider (ISP), device type, operating system, and browser information. Some companies might even use more advanced techniques like geolocation or machine learning algorithms to infer additional details about you, such as language preferences or demographic information. However, it’s important to note that not all tracking methods are accurate, and privacy concerns exist due to potential misuse of this data.

Because ISP’s, DNS servers, and 99.99% of websites are harvesting your data for profit?

Why not use a VPN at all times? I trust the top VPN companies with my data more than any ISP on the planet…

Why does there need to be a reason?

The question you should be asking is why does reddit care what I’m doing on my own computer?

Living in Texas where they blocked all the porn? Redgifs was hit the other day and now porn is basically pointless on Reddit.
