There are options for everyone.

I use a wireless mouse from Logitech for work (and so does a lot of my coworkers), and never in its ~5 years of use did I use the mouse plugged in.

The device gives multiple low battery warnings well in advance. I just plug it in before logging off after I receive the second or third warning.

I acknowledge Apple’s obtuseness of choosing form over function with the Magic Mouse (among other devices across their catalogue), but anyone who has used a wireless mouse daily would know that it is not as big of a deal as the media and community makes it out to be every time a discussion takes place about the Magic Mouse.

I will not be using Windows to connect to the internet; that function will be reserved for the Linux based OS, which I will be running in dual boot mode.

During my search for operating systems for older machines, I did come across NetBSD, but I am not sure if I am ready to give up my familiarity with Linux-based OSs.

Edit: Having said that, this seems like a good opportunity to try it out.

Yes. I plan on using a lightweight Linux based OS for daily operations and restrict Windows only to game. I also know Firefox would not cut it, and using an older build of FF is a security risk.

The intention behind making this post was to learn from the community what they do to browse the web on vintage machines, if they even do.

When I asked the question I assumed a Linux based OS like Antix or Bunsen.

I just noticed the “feature” on my machine. The software is already janky enough with the number of software it install to provide basic functionality.

Came here to ask for suggestions for alternative software for an MX Master 3 being used with macOS.

Buying a whole other device seems wasteful as the mouse is in flawless condition, but if you have any suggestions I can take a note of it when it is time to buy a new device.
