If I understand correctly, you’re struggling with isolation? If so, and if you have the time and resources for it, maybe finding a hobby, sports club, etc. in your area could help?
My previous main instance got a pretty bad case of ded. 🥲

“Dumbfication” of songs is part of the reason I started listening a lot to rock. Quite a few rock bands seem to at least try to make something thoughtful.
But also been finding some musics outside of this niche too. Like, after some 10 years, I found again a music I quite enjoyed back then, Stromae’s “House’Llelujah”. I don’t speak French so figuring the lyrics out is hard, but for this “DJ” type of music, besides the rhythm, it also appears to have a more thought out lyrics.
Some times it’s part of the plot, like in comics such as Gwenpool and 8-Bit Theater. But usually, from what I notice, how a character perceives the world around is not explained.
Android 4.1 is super old, so getting anything still updated to run on it could be complicated. And because of that, I have maybe two or so ideas, but I can’t ensure their viability. First, to replace the phone’s Android system for a newer one. Second, to try to use a custom player, like Revanced or Grayjay. And as an extension of the second idea, if no programs you can find work, to try to manually compile them against the latest API version that supports Android 4.1.
Oh? It’s a site software update? Interesting! =O
If you don’t mind, I have a suggestion that could help with avoiding running out of stuff to check.
To see the same posts over and over is pretty annoying, me thinks. So while I don’t use much lemmy world, when I do, in the lack of a native function, I hide posts through ublock origin.
For example, the link of the OP over at your instance is:
lemmy.world/post/18355071
So I pick the number at the end of the link and add to a custom filter in ubo:
lemmy.world##a[href="/post/18355071"]:upward(div[class="post-listing mt-2"])
And yes, needs to be done to each post you want to hide. It can be a bit slow, but not as bad as seeing the same posts over and over again, me thinks.
And as a last note, if you want a native post hide feature, places like where I’m talking from now and lemmy.ca have it.
On a hopeful line of thought, I think it could help remind people that they may have unfinished projects that could be picked back up. *-*
Afaik most such Reddit alternatives support RSS feeds, so a RSS reader could be an option.
