What would Americans know of the dangers of Marmite? I’m sure the British Heart Foundation have said that Marmite is perfectly safe at any amount. I’d provide facts, but I don’t need to.
Took delivery of a Pixel 9 last Thursday after 16 years of iPhones. Within an hour of delivery I had it on Graphene and after a few days of VEEEEERY steep learning curve I’m really enjoying using it.
I have absolutely no idea how any of the sandboxing stuff works, and could stand to have fewer notifications warning me what the system is doing, but overall it’s pretty straightforward.

I’ve lost a couple of podcasts to Spotify. Life goes on. I don’t begrudge anyone wanting to earn money, but I won’t support Spotify’s practices.
There’s such a wonderfully low barrier to entry these days that there’ll soon be something else coming down the pipe.
As someone who’s made a number of podcasts on and off over the years since 2007, much of this post resonates.
However, I take solace in thinking that a podcast is just an extension of a broadcast; where a broadcast is, well, broad, a podcast is a self contained…cast. In a pod. Broadcasting covers audio and video, so it figures that podcasting would as well.
With that in mind, my own style of podcasting, and my preferred format is personal stories. I love podcasts that are by people in their bedrooms talking about their lives, or by journalists who talk to regular folk. Regardless of what Spotify do, that style will always be out there, available on an RSS feed.
I don’t use Spotify, I don’t use YouTube. If I can’t get it in my app then I don’t listen to it. And that’s OK.
I really need to get back into it though. I used to love making them.

Fuck you, guy!

I didn’t say it could, just that it’s easy to do (assuming your hardware is supported of course).

After 16 years of iPhones I switched to a Pixel 9 two days ago so I could run GrapheneOS. It took me ten minutes to install. Shit’s remakably easy to do. Assuming your phone isn’t carrier locked, of course.
I’m about to switch from iPhone to a Pixel 9 so I can put CalyxOS on it. Used iPhones since a 3GS in 2009, but the time has come.
Nah, Vine was top shit.
“Can I offer you some salsa in this trying time?”

My mother in law smokes, so a visit to her house always results in throwing whatever clothes we’ve taken directly into the washing machine when we get home.
Worse though, is that it takes a few days for the smell to leave my CPAP machine. I put a new filter in, but it still somehow lingers.

A couple of years back (pretty much when I canned Twitter for Mastodon), I decided to actively be more positive in my online interactions. And you know, it’s been great.
For example, if I see a post on a movie community on here along the lines of “What movie do you hate, even though it’s really popular?” I’ll just sail on by. At most I’ll mark it as hidden so I don’t get tempted to wallow in negativity.
10/10 I can heartily recommend just ignoring things that are framed negatively, and people who try to draw you into a row for their own entertainment.

(Or $24, if you’d prefer.)

Yeah, Snopes says Snopes is still reliable, so it’s all good.
The US is wild.
You call yourselves the land of the free, but have to beg your boss to let you have time off that’s owed.

I also use Tailscale.
It’s fair to say that I don’t really know what I’m doing, so am picking my way through the world of self-hosting one lesson at a time, but even with that in mind, I’ve found Tailscale an absolute breeze to set up, even if I still don’t fully understand how it all works, and what it can all do.
In short, I have my server at home as part of my tailnet. I’ve also installed it on my Hetzner VPS, which is running YunoHost. Within YunoHost I’ve set up a bunch of redirects which take the Tailscale ips of my various services and turn them into URLs.
So in essence, my Navidrome server goes from being http://100.111.11.1:4533/ to navidrome.mysite.co.ck.
I’ve got Navidrome, Immich, Home Assistant, Invidious, and Jellyfin running like that, and as far as I can tell I’ve not had any security issues at all.
