There’s been multiple studies on this. So yes, I side with the data that stereotype threat phenomenon has a significant impact on women’s performance in chess against men.
The chess one isnt quite right. There’s been experiments where if a woman player didn’t know her opponent was a man she would perform better. It’s called stereotype threat phenomenon.
It also happens when a male player knowingly goes up against someone higher in the league than himself and he performs below his own standard average.
Basically people in general psyche themselves out of their best performance when going against someone they perceive to be better than them whether that’s factual or not. Confidence and undermining confidence can change a whole lot about how a person does in any given game or task.
I’ve met some very kind vegans in real life, but the ones online can be downright vicious.
It cannot be healthy for a person to be that angry all the time. Sorry you experienced that and don’t blame you for avoiding it now. People go absolutely insane over weird stuff, especially food related topics. It’s weird how much folks stress themselves out over what others are eating/not eating/how their eating it.
I’m glad you’ve found an approach that’s working for you! It can be very difficult navigating treatment plans when there are strong voices in academia conflicting with each other, or being too heavy handed in one direction or the other.

It’s basically an academic disagreement between two schools of thought. The behaviorist like models in psychology can be at odds with the biochemical imbalance model of psychiatry.
Studies like this help expand treatment options since the biochemical imbalance theory has gained significant popularity and awareness in recent years. Not everyone struggling has a chemical imbalance and not all mental illnesses are caused from trauma. Some have both. Nuance is king with sort of issue

I’m from the US, but here it’s mostly fraternal lodges that still ban women, and certain religious groups(which I don’t think those technically count due to separation of church and state). But the Order of Oddfellows, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Freemasons, and the Botherhood of St Andrew don’t initiate women. Im sure theres more but i dont know about them.
Granted those have some religious influence, but aren’t churches directly as far as I understand. Also the skull and bones, but they’re very secretive and that could have changed and no one would be the wiser.
I’m not sure about other countries laws, but in the US private institutions are more or less allowed to segregate by gender, but often there’s backlash and they lose money so most won’t go there. That’s why it’s mostly these secretive fraternal orders that still do it.
That’d be ideal, but I don’t really see that happening tbh. There’s a women’s version of the freemasons, but it’s not nearly as popular or active as far as I can tell.
There are still places that are men only. Women can’t join the freemasons for example, but you don’t see this sort of extremely angry reaction to that.

I think a lot of us have been eating less in general due to how expensive food is right now, and that includes meat so that’s a win I guess?
Semi joking aside that’s a very reasonable approach to this problem. For some reason people like my parents “need” beef or some kind of meat with every meal, which is expensive and caused my mom to get gout. Yet her diet stays the same. There’s very little middle ground with people on this topic, so it’s refreshing to see someone suggesting we just eat less of it.
