I noticed it was a Yougov poll and then it made sense. I’ve lost all hope of the general population being able to make any reasonable decision. This might be the worst (best?) example yet.

The running joke that is Stroll needs to retire, he’s ruined so many people’s races over the years.

I’ve seen one barn owl in my area ever, out near a golf course. I live in a suburban area with lots of tawny and little owls. Is it worthwhile to add an owl box onto the side of my house?
Looks like shaggy ink caps, but you would need to confirm that yourself.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Record breaker Starmer is the 'most unpopular PM since polling began'English
401·2 months agoHe’s not unpopular because he’s worse than recent Tory leadership, he’s unpopular because of how much of a disappointment he’s been compared to people’s expectations. Mandatory ID is surely going to improve things in that regard…

News@lemmy.world•Sir Keir Starmer is expected to announce plans for a compulsory UK-wide digital ID scheme in a speech on Friday.
6·2 months agoBig if. You are massively over-estimating the capability of the government to implement technology, infrastructure or piss ups in breweries.
This is something that will be abused, either by design or incompetence. I’ve said in another comment and I’ll say it again, what will the reform party do with this set up?

3·2 months agoDo you believe that age verification online is to protect children? Likewise for mandatory backdoors to secured data and encryption bans?
Digital id can be abused and controlled in ways a physical id cannot. There are some similarities to the idea of having a ‘cashless society’ but it also has unique problems.
Because a digital id is likely to become much more convenient, it’s not a stretch that it becomes mandatory to verify for services that previously had no need to. You have another reply talking about museums and buses, which you think is ridiculous, but when it becomes so simple to do these things can creep in.
We don’t know the implementation being planned, so it is hard to say for sure - but I don’t want it and believe it should be resisted as strongly as possible.

1·2 months agoHopefully they sort things out. It’s not a good look for potential leadership if they can’t.
I’m not signing the letter, but that doesn’t mean I’m not interested or invested in the outcome. I’ll see how things shape up and wait for some communication from a unified party.
Please don’t use the word stupid, it’s toxic.

1·2 months agoI’ve read the letter. I’m not clear about the scenario this is addressing, where the party fails before it has begun. Is there some disagreement about the direction of the party and therefore an alternative proposal somewhere?
I remember seeing a claim that Trax used to destroy Murmilo, because the big shield was a hindrance in one on one combat. The speed and agility of the smaller shield was much better. The big shields worked well in units to make a shield wall, but less so in an arena
