    This.

“Ah, behold! A gargantuan dwelling of the giants! We’ll just put our giant clumpy mud hive right up here until we reproduce infinitely unchecked, and then perceive them as a threat for daring to venture outside! Peace an’ love y’all.”

“Ah hah! Look at this patch of grass! The giants stomp around here regularly. We shall burrow and hide beneath it, reacting with furious hellfire should we be tread on!”

“Avast, ye, mammal! You are within like a kilometer of my turf! Your life is hereby forfeit!”

    –Various kinds of wasps, probably.

I’m all for letting things be(e), but I get pretty pissed when creatures have the audacity to attach to or otherwise colonize your dwelling and then get mad and violent that it’s your dwelling.

  • That was absolutely glorious and insanely witty. I’ve been called witty before and this had me feeling joyfully outclassed. I thought I was in for some crazy copy pasta but it just ended up further educating me on WHY dragonflies are so cool.

(And yeah damselflies, psh. Bugs. Seeing a dragonfly is a GOOD day.)

I hope this becomes a copy pasta. It was legit hilarious and awesome to read.

Dang it I’m really hoping you’re having like *a really good day. * Thanks for writing this. :D

For me it’s just all the funny words for highly specific descriptors of particular types of terrain. But also, you can somehow still get such a vivid picture and follow the gist, even as you filter through all that, even if you don’t bother to look it up.

“Along the left was an eylet flanked by a hithertop which flattened as they proceeded north through the shallow wolly, which rose into semi-steep clifftons…”

(Yes I made all that up lol)

Somehow even with my ADHD I’m having such a good time with it…because it’s so vivid, like Tolkien was actually there.

  • Okay for real though… storage size? Terrible I agree.

But I’ve been kinda obsessed lately with the form factor of diskettes. They’re:

    • Not super easy to lose (looking at for you, nanoSD)
    • They’re easily labeled.
    • Unlike flash drives, aren’t vulnerable to snagging and getting ripped out of the machine or damaging the port when inserted.
    • Easily stacked or filed away.
    • Most importantly: Make a nice satisfying “ka-chunk” when inserting into a drive.
    • Satisfyingly fly out of said drive when you push the eject button firmly.

Nowadays, if we made a diskette that basically replaced the magnetic disc with flash memory, and the shutter protected the connectors, you could hypothetically store like 1TB in that space, it could likely be read super fast, and would obviously be way more reliable than the old “Oh no a speck of dust ruined my 2MB file” of old floppies.

I’d even settle for an open standard akin to Sony’s chunky little Memory Sticks…I liked those.
