Brilliant. Just brilliant. We’re now one of those countries I used to see on the news and say to myself, “Thank God that isn’t us.”

I miss when Presidents were classy, or at least had a modicum of shame. We have a trailer trash President. Won’t surprise me when Beast is up on cinderblocks in the driveway and Melania comes out with rollers in her hair and a marlboro between her lips.

I’m just trying to imagine Trump watching a Snoop Dogg performance and wondering what fresh hell he’s be dropped into. Pretty far from Ava Maria.

I think you’re confusing American liberalism for what liberalism is in the rest of the world. OP is Australian.

I love how the majority of comments here didn’t even read the whole headline, let alone the article, before confidently spouting whatever they already thought.

Maybe literally read for two seconds and you’d know.

Biff thinks he can shove all his problems into the lockers.
Jesus I can’t wait for this man to get his comeuppance. One day. I have to hold out hope that he’ll see some semblance of consequences or it just becomes too much to bear. I’m so tired of this daily clown show.

39% blame conservatives.
33% blame democrats.
100% of me doesn’t understand my fellow countryman anymore.

Jesus fucking Christ. It’s been nearly a whole year since I last thought about that piece of shit Joe Manchin. You just had to remind me.
Did more damage to our state than I ever thought possible for a senator. Robert C. Byrd rolling in his fucking grave watching that turncoat hem and haw and not do a goddamn useful thing his entire tenure.

Good. Imagine the relative utopia we might live in if other states were as proactive about protecting the rights of their citizens.
I want digital privacy laws, right-to-repair, and the million other advocacy-driven things Cali has. It’ll never happen in a million years, but I can still want them.
I can’t wait to leave my shit-hole state and move West.

It’s a whole 'nother generation and breed of miner, my friend. Those miners understood the power of collective action and the power they held within the nation as a major contributor to the economy and what essentially made the country move.
Today’s miners, meaning in the last 40-60 years, have been coasting on the battles hard-fought by their fathers and grandfathers. Do you think the miners of today would have fought for unionization or medical benefits? I sincerely doubt it. No, today’s mining culture is a far cry from those who died at Blair Mountain and fought against Pinkertons.

Right? Fuck billionaires, but Pritzker is putting his money and his reputation on the line for his people. That’s more than you can say for literally any other billionaire at the moment. I swear some people can’t see nuance if it smacks them in the face.
The purity test, perfection-or-nothing mindset will the the death of progressive ideology.

As the son of a 30-year coal miner, not reading the fine print is a prerequisite to mining. If they were worried about the finer details the majority of them wouldn’t be there to begin with.

I didn’t know I needed this. Thanks!

I know… I know. The media landscape in this country is irrevocably fucked.

I 100% agree with you. They’d probably threaten to arrest them all and then as a last resort, bring in the military to run it, just guessing on that. No idea if the military has the capacity to even meet 10% of the need for ATC.
But yeah, the people need to work together if we ever want change in this country, but if my experiences in life have taught me anything, it’s that when the chips are down, people tend to turn on each other rather than work together. That’s what I’m seeing play out in this country right now.
I just don’t get it. I feel like I’m at such diametric odds with most of the people I encounter on a day to day basis that I don’t see how that ideological gap can be bridged. It’s really gotten bad.

Reagan made sure that’ll never happen.

I imagine they know that. But it’s a good headline that “Republicans vote down child care”

For what it’s worth, I kinda agree. Maybe I’ve changed but I feel like their content over the last year or two is nowhere near as good as it was.
Maybe I’ve just had a change in taste, though.
