  • LtG has been pretty on point with its modelling compared to real life data since its publication.

BUT LtG wasn’t a prediction for the end of the world, it was/is a model of interconnected metrics about our society at large and to illustrate two points:

    1. You cannot have infinite growth in a finite system.

    2. Society has to maintain a harmony of these metrics to prevent itself from collapsing.

Basically what happened after its publication, a bunch of economists attacked it with their can openers. Some whackjobs claimed the club of rome was an illuminati front, a few scientists recalibrated the model with updated data, showing evidence in its favour and the world moved on ignoring it and the myriad of other climate warnings

  • These apps are designed to literally put you in this position, they erode your self esteem intentionally so that you spend money on their platform.

So first of all, none of this is a reflection of you as a person; it’s a malevolent act by a corporation that you’re victim of.

My advice is to find someone through mutual interest, personally my goal this year was to get healthier so I’ve picked up a few activities to keep me fit; rock-climbing gym, community gardening/permaculture, boxing and archery.

I’ve met some lovely people through these activities, and bonding over a mutual interest gives you time to weigh up whether a romantic interest would work or not. There’s also the potential to be set up/hit it off with a friend of theirs if they think you’re a catch.

  • Case in point, men and women are almost 50/50 in STEM careers around Eastern Europe due to the USSRs policies pushing more women into these careers.

People don’t realise that these norms they hold as dogma are so short-lived and subject to change that opposition only shows them unable to comprehend history past their lived experience.

It’s ashame they have to drag us down with them.

  • There has to be someone without to create the demand for capitalism to work, I totally support what you’re saying and in a perfect world those people wouldn’t suffer but there is still an imbalance of power between capitalists and workers and that tension means both sides have to be perpetually hyper vigilant in protecting their own interests against each other.

Mind you, I don’t think communism is a good system either; humanity should be considering new forms of governance given our technological advancements have solved a lot of problems that these systems initially intended to.

Anyway that’s my perspective, appreciate you asking for an elaboration hopefully it’s some food for thought even if you don’t agree with me.

  • Cigarettes have a myriad of carcinogens like toluene, benzene, formadelhyde, hexamine, napthaline and acetone

Stating that vapes are more toxic than cigarettes over one metric is disingenuous journalism.

I’m not disagreeing about the lead content but studies like this get picked up by journalists with the comprehension of a tomato and are then misconstrued into these fear-creating headlines for engagement.

The adoption of vapes tremendously ate into the big tobacco profits, its an extremely effective way of getting off cigarettes. (for better or worse)

If we instead listened to these studies and developed a similar form of nicotine replacement therapy with harm minimisation in mind under industry regulation we’d do far more for smokers, vapers and our healthcare systems than any fear mongering ‘don’t do it!’ campaigns which time and time again do not work.
