  • 2 of my cousins (brother and sister) are 2 very opposite people. The older brother has been a career fuck-up since grade school; always getting in trouble, failing, not caring, running with the wrong crowds, knocked up a girl when they were 16, got kicked out of 1 school and barely graduated. He’s never held a job more than 6 months, if that, each job is minimum wage with minimal skills, been kicked out of the house a few times, has a sordid legal history, dated some questionable women, and eventually got into a relationship with a single mom of 3 kids who inherited 6-figures when her dad died and dude thought he was on easy street from that point forward…until 6 months later when he blew threw half the money and she kicked him out to where he’s now crashing in a camper working a lawn job.

His sister, honor student in HS, went to college, got a degree but had difficulty finding a job in graphic design that wasn’t freelance. Seeing the 27 2nd chances her enabler-parents afforded her brother…she stopped caring and moved back in with the parents bouncing from middling job to middling job. He’s in his mid-30s and she’s in her upper 20’s

  • I wish I still had my writeup on that last season, and especially the episode How Your Mother Met Me, which I think was a genuinely terrible episode that removed all depth from the Mother, and the only reason I think it got any praise was because of the ukalele rendition of La Vie En Rose at the end.

But yes, that entire season undid 8 years of character development for most of the characters, spent the entire season building up to the Barney & Robins wedding, which it then immediately undid, spent an entire season overdeveloping Barney to being a genuinely good person whose whole persona was a simple act of benevolent revenge…only to undo it and have him revert back to being a POS womanizer (until he knocks up some lady), gives us this big buildup for Tracy only to mention in passing that she died…like seriously it was about 7 seconds, and show Ted literally and figuratively letting go of Robin once and for all…only for him be like "oh yeah if was you i loved all along at the end.

  • 2 former coworkers of mine who always the smartest person they know. One of em lives alone and you can tell he’s never lost an argument (with himself in his head) and anytime he tries to back up his opinion it’s always the same “it’s dumb, it’s stupid, it doesn’t make sense it’s not LoGiCaL”. But anytime you try to chime in…he talks over you.

The other is one of those “I read both sides of the story so I know far far more than you”…who was a one of those reddit knowitalls.
