Yeah, it’s an extremely popular sentiment on the internet to scoff at software update related recalls as if they “don’t count.” 9 times out of 10 the person making the claim is a Muskrat, because this is a very common thing with Teslas and daddy Elon must be defended at all costs but every now and then they’re just a run of the mill moron unwittingly parroting Muskrat talking points.
A recall is a recall whether the issue can be patched OTA or whether you have to drive to a dealership so they can spend 30mins swapping a random seemingly inconsequential part. The specific mechanics of the solution do not change the fact that a problem required a recall to be issued to consumers. Perpetuating the notion that these recalls should be considered “less important than a real recall” is dangerous to the point of stupidity.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
As it is, the first time this was posted, biologists and pharmacists discussed the merits of the claims and came to the conclusion that this was unlikely to be real.
Link please? Kinda feel like I shouldn’t have had to ask for that based on how you chose to begin your comment but here we are.
Same here, he’s one of those actors that’s just consistently good. Even in mediocre projects you know he’s at least going to be the best part.
The Higgs Boson was actually discovered by a team using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in 2012.
Yeah, it’s disappointing to see what she became. Roseanne was a pretty progressive show for it’s time and addressed a lot of issues most sitcoms of the era steered clear of. Despite their rough edges the Conner family were a fairly positive but accurate representation of struggling working class American families too. Which was not something shown on TV very often.
Roseanne Barr has become… The opposite of who she was during my childhood and it’s a shame. But I’m glad to see The Conners has continued to explore the kind of stories the original was celebrated for.
Ah yes the annual minimum effort F4 movie just so they can keep the licence away from Marvel
Nope. Disney bought 21st Century Fox five years ago. This is an MCU movie.
Ed Wood (1994) is my favorite, and it’s probably his most slept-on Depp collaboration. It’s a brilliant film about a terrible filmmaker. Depp and the rest of the cast are excellent but I think Martin Landau’s performance as Bela Lugosi stands out. He does a remarkable job of playing a (past his prime) icon of the golden age of monster movies.
Beyond that, in no particular order, I’m a big fan of: Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks!, Beetlejuice, and of course, Batman + Returns.
Question for the admins: Have you folks been following the development of Sublinks at all?
Sublinks, crafted using Java Spring Boot, stands as a state-of-the-art link aggregation and microblogging platform, reminiscent yet advanced compared to Lemmy & Kbin.
It features a Lemmy compatible API, allowing for seamless integration and migration for existing Lemmy users.
Unique to Sublinks are its enhanced moderation tools, tailored to provide a safe and manageable online community space.
I’m very intrigued by this project, as moderation tools don’t seem to be much of a priority for the Lemmy devs. But I’d love to hear an admin’s perspective.
I feel like Bluesky is always going to be the fediverse with training wheels. And as you pointed out, these folks aren’t using Twitter, so that’s a good start. All we can do is hope one day these people will start exploring the full range of opportunities available to them in the actual fediverse.
I do, and I think it’s just kinda “okay”. The main thing I like about Bluesky right now is the experimental “threaded mode” which makes following conversations a lot easier for me. I’ve always been more of a Reddit kinda guy than a Twitter user so nested/threaded comments are preferable.
Having said that, as far as microblogging platforms go, I find mastodon in conjunction with the smart lists feature on the Mammoth app for iOS to be a much better resource for following news and finding interesting accounts.
This is going to be great. Conan’s Late Night remote bits and travel series have always been some of his strongest work.
I would like to know how you feel about the !notvoting@slrpnk.net community and if you think it has a place on slrpnk.net.
Well if you’re looking for opinions, I don’t think it has a place. It’s your right to refuse to participate in elections but creating a community devoted to the fact that you’re not going to do something seems like a poor use of time and energy that could be put toward something constructive. However, blocking communities I don’t want to see is easy enough, so have at it, I guess.
I’m really looking forward to this movie. I went into the audiobook knowing nothing about the story and could not have enjoyed it more, I think it’s Andy Weir’s best work. But with Lord & Miller at the helm along with Ryan Gosling set to star? I can’t imagine a better line up working on this adaptation. It’s going to give The Martian (2015) one hell of a run for it’s money.
