The cheap plastic hinge of my kids lunchbox lid. I fashioned a makeshift hinge with a drilled hole/bent nail. Lasted long enough to get a new Bluey bento box as a replacement.

If you add back in the comped appetizer, the math maths. Not saying I agree with the practice, but it’s not fraud. They’re suggesting you tip based off what you received not what you’re paying per se.

Stop Drinking@lemmy.world•supporting family through their quitting journeyEnglish
6·9 months agoGood luck, I mean it. Caring and seeking to understand is a core first step. I’m not sure I have any sage advise but one thing that stood out to me is needing to quit “forever”. That’s a really big commitment. A lot of us are able to chain together single days that add up to bigger numbers. Forever is a long time, but a day is doable. Finding positive connections is a big deal and will help them on their journey. It’s tough to find good ones, but they exist.
It’s the times you don’t pull out that get ya.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's appealing about people who are seen as extrovert but describe themselves as introvert?
37·1 year agoI’m this person and I often get misunderstood. I can be the center of a room and I’m loud not quiet. People attribute this with being an extrovert. I am absolutely not, I am an introvert. It’s draining for me to be front and center but I don’t mind doing it. I recharge by being alone. I have to explain this to folks often.
In my mind, it’s a best of both worlds being able to do both. But the introvert/extrovert is about how you gain energy, not whether you are shy or center of attention.

Stop Drinking@lemmy.world•Could I get some advice on reinforcing sobriety?English
10·1 year agoTwo strategies I employ that work for me:
- Each morning I commit to myself that I will not drink today. Committing for a month or a year or the rest of my life is a really big commitment. But committing for a day is doable. Using this strategy, I’ve chained together over 1000 sober days in a row and that number just snuck up on me because I simply track today.
- When I feel the urge to drink I “play the tape forward”. There’s a lot you can read on this subject, but for me it reminds me of why I chose to stop in the first place. That drinking doesn’t solve any of my problems and if anything, it makes them more difficult for me to deal with.

2·1 year agoThe app the study used is Healthy Minds. I downloaded it this morning to give it a shot. Seems better than other guided meditation or breathing apps I’ve tried, is free, and has a learning path sorta like DuoLingo which makes it gamified for my brain. Gonna try to do at least one activity per day and see how it works.
