I’ve seen you post a lot of fantastic stuff on here and appreciate the good changes you’re actively bringing to the Fediverse, but I have to disagree on this one.

The shills don’t want a real debate, they want to frustrate, waste time, and distract you from engagement with a real person or in a more visible comment.

We can defederate. Lemmy.ml is clearly intended to spread disinformation, it should be cut out of the Fediverse network.

The Fediverse is full of propaganda, but extremist content is usually limited to Hexbear, Lemmygrad, and lemmy.ml.

Hard to forget Hexbear accounts saying they were going to murder me when they started their revolution, but that’s not a generally a problem in the rest of the Fediverse.

What a ton of people will figure out is that the fediverse has a serious problem with propaganda and moderation. They’ll come check out the Fediverse, see it’s full of extremist political content, and go back to Reddit.

I’m thrilled about the potential of the Fediverse to be something great, but I won’t even tell anyone I use it in it’s current state.

Defederating malicious propaganda instances like Lemmy.ml should be a no-brainer. It’s not “people I disagree with,” it’s a murderous authoritarian government’s tool for spreading lies.

I don’t think the Kremlin can wage a war of attrition like Russia did in the past, and it certainly can’t like the USSR.

They’re burning through leftovers from the USSR and not replacing them. They’re in a demographic crunch even without the war, and the Kremlin’s mobilization was deeply unpopular.

Their economy is running hot in an unsustainable way. As long as Ukraine can keep pulling support from other democracies more than the Kremlin pulls it from other dictatorships, I think time is on Ukraine’s side.
