If you’re wondering why I’m crossposting .ml content or for an account listing of accounts used for it, please see the bottom of this megathread

1·9 days agoFair, but I can tell you that a lot of .ml comms only appear to be very large because they’re one of the original instances so their comm subscriber counts are quite bloated with dead and deleted accounts (I don’t think subscriber counts decrease for any reason other than you actually clicking the unsubscribe button on a comm)
If you take a look by MAUs (a much better metric to go by) the non.ml Threadiverse is actually very healthy

2·9 days agoI review each and every crosspost since it’s all done manually, I only filter out propaganda (like the constant deluge of Russian propaganda on .ml) and spams/scams
Obviously I’m human so I make mistakes, it happens, but the point is you can have the freedom to actually call out and/or discuss such things on another instance without needing to worry about getting censored and/or banned by the .ml admin for doing so

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.
Some highlights from the link:
Dessalines, head .ml admin, lead Lemmy dev actively spreading genocide denialism https://sh.itjust.works/post/61371958
.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068
“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415
"Don’t worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167
“See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn’t count!!” ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342
“NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035
General negative sentiment to other instances who haven’t “seen the way” yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510
And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

41·3 months agoLol I’ve seen your lemvote history, you downvote anyone and everyone serially who you deem “posts too much” lmao
So you’ve just made up a bunch of stuff and refuse to provide receipts on any of it. Got it 👍
Not to mention you have deleted and reposted to avoid a downvote before.
Troll protection against a known downvote troll, employed on tiny comms only, it’s not necessary anywhere else because your ability to push down posts is diluted

55·3 months agoIm not evading user blocks, I provide a listing that’s available in my bio. I have told you this and others have as well and you have flat out stated you refuse to take advantage of what tools have been given to you for “reasons”.
Additionally, your story about me changes every time someone counters your arguments.
.ML content, they repost shit from all instances.
Nope, you just assume or, perhaps maliciously just conveniently leave that part out, because someone else crossposted after me. Like you did here: https://lemdro.id/comment/22804934
Actual reasons for multiple accounts:
- Promoting smaller instances, because of the volume of my posting it helps makes smaller instances more recognizable
- Making comms on fitting smaller instances (e.g. a programming comm id make on programming.dev)
- Mitigating against the imposter problem
- Better interconnecting smaller instances
Why am I cross-posting .ml content:

Honestly, I just want vibrant communities on topics of interest to me that are not tied to US-style commercial social platforms.
The Threadiverse is definitely healthier and more resistant to falling into the same kinds of traps when we spread comms across smaller instances

I mean, you’re not entirely wrong, the multiple accounts is for a few different reasons, but one of them is defense against impersonation accounts which has happened to me lol
But the main reasons for the many instance accounts are kinda unrelated to the ml crossposting kinda are, they are
I’ve thought about it, but ultimately decided against it, I felt it would make the thread in whatever comm I’m posting it in too off-topic. So instead i just comment it whenever it’s inquired about
