Who cares? Lemmy is literally beta software and it isn’t corporate growth driven social media. Also it doesn’t have to replace anything. I use a lot of apps. I use both Lemmy and Reddit and always have. I have Instagram too, I also use both Twitter and Mastodon. I have Signal, Snapchat, Linkedin and Nextdoor.I like Lemmy, it is different than Reddit and that is fine. I like it better and have my own server.

Keep telling yourself that, recipes run in families too. There is mountains of evidence showing that plant based diets are the healthiest and that saturated fat, where most of the calories in meat come from, is bad for you. The non vegans in my family look like everyone else, I seem to be a genetic marvel along with my wife. Everyone’s genetics must have suddenly changed in the past 30 years that somehow turned 50% of people in only rich countries obese and not their shitty diet of increased meat and fat consumption.

No way, it’s made by animal testing and I don’t trust anyone to actually use that instead of cheaper, subsidized cruelty that is normally served.

Also meat is really unhealthy and unnecessary. I’ve been vegan almost 10 years now and all my coworkers are suffering diseases from eating a shitty diet but people regularly think I’m 10 years younger than I am. My manager who is younger than me at 43 just had to get stents and had a heart attack. Long story short, I’m not looking to eat like you people ever again.

As a networking engineer using a VPN service where you don’t have any information on the other end of the tunnel or worse install software which can essentially packet mirror your traffic to any location is the worst possible idea and I can’t believe they convinced so many people to do it.

It is because men aren’t engaged in parenting nearly as much as anecdotes suggest. I used to work at a family court and like 19 out of 20 men never even bothered to appear in their custody cases. When you go on reddit it’s a huge vast sexist conspiracy against men but in real life they fail to do the absolute bare minimum.

There aren’t any books about it because you are the 1 out of 20 dude and a large percent of that cohort doesn’t buy books.

Sure, depends where you are at and what you are baking. I make sourdough bread at least weekly totally by eye, memory and skill. I use coffee mugs most often. I used to measure things like 15 years ago but no longer need to.

I just wing everything and use neither cups or a scale. I’ve been cooking for like 30 years lol so everything comes out how I like it 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I don’t doubt it, its just superficial bacteria that can be sticky. I think some people have it worse than others and that like the 2 week thing is the sure fire nuclear option that will basically always work. I actually posted this because I’m pretty sure I had this too in my 20s when I was going to the gym all the time but I started shaving and keeping it that way around then and talking about it was like a memory unlocked moment.

The idea that it can be or should be a drop in reddit replacement for people who want to scroll an app while they take a shit. The most fun on Lemmy I have is with my community for vegan cooking that is self contained for the most part and something I couldn’t ever get off the ground for years on reddit. I think each community should be essentially hosted on its own instance with other instances being for user accounts and identity that can access the community. The front page of my instance would just be my single on topic community.

I want to start by saying I am extremely thankful for Ruud and the team and think that you did an amazing job with lemmy.world and I wish you success in the future.

That said, I am a monthly 30 dollar donator to Lemmy and I am not interested in Sublinks. I read through the threads and my take is that I think the motivation for the development of it goes against my personal politics and mischaracterizes nutomic and dessalines. While I appreciate the nature of open source to open up avenues for people to act as they think is best, I do not want to leave the Lemmy.

Ahead of a migration to Sublinks I hope there comes a cleaner way to move communities off lemmy.world. If I had known how the Fediverse worked 11 months ago I would have self hosted an instance and shared my communities that way as to not be defederated from people I want to be federated with. Additionally I think that having a single huge lemmy instance is not great for the architecture of the fediverse as a whole and even if there were no changes planned or being considered. I think that many instances hosting communities is preferable to having large ones like lemmy.ml and lemmy.world.

Again I totally get that this is provided free and as is and as such you are free to make the decision you think is best. Even though I am a difficult person, I very much appreciate you, your team and what you are trying to accomplish. Thank you.

My first account on lemmy.ml was 4 years ago. I like the idea of Lemmy and federated reddit alternatives and am not looking for a drop in replacement and am happy to try new things.

Difference in quality? Yes. Difference in bias? No. The NYT has an extreme neo liberal US oriented business empire bias that as a refugee of the Iran Iraq war and victim of US foreign policy they supported that I don’t trust. I also don’t trust Breitbart.

I’m not sure I believe “faster” progress really means anything when two communists are creating a hobby software that isn’t really for business or necessarily targeting growth at all costs.
