The photon front-end looks clean and runs well on both my mobile and desktop. I do agree with another commenter (coolkat, I think) that’s it’s not as cute and unique as the current front end, but maybe that’s possible to change – you did mention that it can have a custom color scheme. Or maybe it’s good to have it clean and polished, I guess it’s just personal preference.

I appriciate all the work getting done & hope the vegans find this instance to be welcoming and respectful :)

Oh and if replacing ssds starts to get expensive because of poor optimization, I would be down to donate to the cause. Hopefully a way to fix that issue comes along somewhat soon.

That’s a fair critique. Specific games ive been playing & would have bases to share would be grounded, terraria, subnautica, stardew valley, the long dark, and maybe some others. I want to try and keep it from being all one game to both give it a wider appeal & to encourage it to be more about the creativity of bases rather than just an ad for a specific game.

I also do think it would be fun to include irl ‘bases’, like the tree stumps that serve as a roly poly base in my back yard, or my car when I convert it to my travel base, or a fun backpacking set up (im going to isle royale this fall, im sure well have some cute ‘bases’). Maybe that’s kind of overly broad? I think it could be fun if moderated correctly.

I’ll give it some time & see if there’s any more feedback on if it’s wanted or not. Or if anyone knows of exisiting communities that fit what im looking for. Maybe I’ll post in the new months meta post since that tends to get more eyes at the start of the month.

Hi! I want to make a base building community. It would be for pictures of game bases (or irl bases if people set up a cool campsite or something that qualifies as a base). It’s my favorite type of game & something I don’t currently see on lemmy. If it does already exist, let me know and I’ll happily join the already existing community :)

Otherwise, could I create that community on this instance? I wasn’t sure if it would fit with the slrpnk theme, but I think it kind of could because base building games tend to center around self sufficiency, survival, and exploration.

I plan on posting my own bases from games & have quite a few screenshots to try and populate the community to start with. Let me know if it would be okay :)

Yeah! I think thats it! Especially the waves on the upper wing and the dark spots. The antennae also look the same.

Close, but this guy has these eye like holes towards the upper center of his wings, and the lower lobe is a slightly different shape where it attaches to the body. I wish I had been able to got a pic while his wings were open.

Would they infer that it must have been some museum? Will they think those life forms coexisted? Will they blame it on aliens? Will they be capable of reading the engraved plaques if those survive in the wreckage?

Makes sense, there are lots of pro action spaces already and its probably better to post in those than create another one.

I do think with the current name it will attract people who do want to change peoples minds and if it gets enough votes to get onto main probably a lot of backlash. If youre down to moderate that though, its probably best to quarentine the arguments onto one community than having it overwhelm other anarchist communities. If it gets traction im thinking itll be a headache to mod, but i commend you for taking that role.

But also maybe itll turn into a space where like minded people can discuss their frustrations with voting & find other people who have decided to divest from the current system.

Either way i think itll be interesting to see what happens & i do think the comminity has a place on this instance. Kudos for the work my undead friend.

I get why you created the community and agree having a space for those discussions is important. I think maybe the name and narrow focus kind of encourage it to be a space that will attract a lot of negative attention.

Do you think a space focused on encouraging other direct actions could serve a similar purpose while avoiding some of the inherent antagonism of its current form? Maybe something like “beyondvoting” or “directaction”. Then even people who do vote are encouraged to go beyond 4 year single day actions. It opens the space for dicussing the limitations of american democracy while still looking beyond it at what else people can do.

Super well put. Maybe a praxis community? Dicussing everyday activism and direct action. So its not really attacking voting, but promoting additional actions beyond simply presidential voting
