4 hours agoMy sentiments exactly. Been an increasing problem over there since 2016 that I noticed but I’m sure there was this bullshittery there before and I just wasn’t in the subreddits where it festered.

Not in any appreciable manner. Most of the legislation is for the individual candidate not their party or lack thereof, however first pass the post devolves to a two party system by it’s very nature. Add the Electoral college and the fact that primaries are run by the Political parties themselves, states run the elections with little to no federal standardization in voting and you get the current mess the US is in.
This isn’t considering the influence money/corporations/billionaires have with SuperPACs nor the vote suppression. The cluster is sufficiently fucked.

Here is an article written back in 2024 where support for tax cuts for the rich (which is part of why Flood got shouted down at the town hall) is dubios and some Republican state representatives call dubious benefit if you project the Nebraskan budget to 2027…
I’m not saying that all Nebraskans even know about any of this, but the frothing evil hate mongering voters you’re referring to, don’t seem to be the majority. They exist, and they’re loud, but they’re not the sole voting population of Nebraska. And frankly I agree with you. Nebraska deserves better. We all deserve better.
I’m happy Flood got shouted down and I hope there are more public demonstrations decrying what’s been rotting at the core of this country. Billionaires hoarding wealth and creating massive inequality intersectionally throughout the whole of society.

You deserve to be there or they wouldn’t have hired you. You work with smart people who know their shit. They wouldn’t have you there if you didn’t contribute.
However remember that as soon as it starts to get bad jump ship or form a union. You only matter until that tiny company gets bought up by another larger company…like Amazon.

Nebraskans hate ALL politicians. However Trump and his policies are losing ground there.
I don’t think there’s some magical candidate that’ll win in Nebraska. I’ve been at this long enough to know that. It just seems people have forgot how policies and consistent messaging can win campaigns.
Great way to get rid of rotting inventory and recoup costs through insurance.
9·16 hours agoLikely as not Chinese companies will profit through shell corporations and NGOs rebuilding Russia and Ukraine. The US could’ve but they dismantled USAID and are actively courting Russian interests in the region.
Then run a left leaning independent with messaging packaged for them to agree with. A lot on the right wanted Sanders in 2016. Medicare/Medicaid for all. Tax breaks for working families and raising taxes on corporations and the ultra wealthy.

Force his hand, either everyone will know full stop that he’s really Cheeto Mussolini or he doesn’t and keeps losing momentum. We fight this in the courts because that’s the only check there is right now. Hopefully there are elections next year and enough seats go far left dem or independent and the centrist dems start realizing their faces are next.
Either way, get to know your neighbors. Form or join community gardens. Start a neighborhood watch or cleanup action. Go to your local civic board and government meetings. Elect people who represent you and your interests locally at the mayor and state rep level.
We’re all going to need to help each other out soon. We keep us safe.
