I think screens that show things when nobody’s looking cost a lot more on a global scale.
Naah, boring

So that is an advantage for them in this situation, what is the disadvantage? Or was that their goal all along?

Has developers of git ever considered doing this?

Maintainers of this page are running a webserver and a service that analyse raw meteorological data to calculate tomorrow’s weather. In exchange they are making money out of ads.
Now there is an AI agent that enters that page on behalf of user, gets the forecast and show it back to user. User never sees an ad, maintainer never sees his revenue. How is that not stealing?

vermaterc@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.zip•Cloudflare announces AI Labyrinth, which uses AI-generated content to confuse and waste the resources of AI Crawlers and bots that ignore “no crawl” directives.English1·1 month agoOn the one hand this is good news, because by allowing stealing data from websites we would just financially kill those who produce legitimate data (e.g. news sites having articles stolen without receiving ad revenue as only bots visit them).
On the other hand - AI tools will get dumber, which makes me sad because I personally hoped for having one day a supercharged assistant that reads and summarises Internet for me. Tools like Perplexity creating research on given topics looked very promising
vermaterc@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Apple ordered by EU regulators to open up to rivals.English2·1 month agoCan someone explain to me, a person that did not have any Apple device ever, what do they mean by:
easier device set-up (e.g. pairing).
So you could not pair non-apple device with your Apple device? And seriously no smartwatch could work with iPhone other than Apple Watch?
vermaterc@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Apple ordered by EU regulators to open up to rivals.English8·1 month agoIf it wasn’t for Spotify, I wouldn’t know most of the artists I listen to now. They might receive little money from me listening to them, but it’s still more than they would receive if I didn’t knew about their existence.
Thank you for reminding me of existence of this network. Have they already joined fediverse as they promised?
