[https://lemy.lol/post/19638968] I would like to introduce you to the tool I
have developed in last 2 days. As you know, when you create a new community on
Lemmy, it is initially only available to your instance until users in other
instances follows too. To fix this, this tool automatically follows the
community from remote instances. I have previously published a similar but
simpler version at boost.lemy.lol and now I remade it because I didn’t like some
of its features. This time, instance admins will be able to strictly choose
which instances they will allow or not. I’m open to your suggestions about
different settings. Please ask your instance admin to add their instance to this
tool. To add it as an admin, all you have to do is log in and activate it from
the settings. https://lemmy-federate.com [https://lemmy-federate.com] Here’s
some tasks I’ll implement in the future:

I’ve come to believe that something more like nostr’s communities makes more sense than what lemmy did. Everything being server based means that you’re not really decentralizing anything.
Fucking exactly. I’m so tired of the “admins will now control” bullshit like get the fuck over yourself
There’s been a few great posts out there of people pointing out that the least moderated most heavily defederated instances tend to survive and the locked down ones disappear and die. Lemmy is almost exclusively the latter which is why it’s so tiny.
True. I like Lemmy it just sucks that it was created by a fucking leftist crazy people. Like why couldn’t a level-headed person create it you know what I mean?
It’s a shame because lotide’s maintainer seems like a pretty decent dude (and the software really doesn’t spend much time worrying about stuff like defederation, not even sure if there’s a feature for it), but hardly anyone runs a lotide instance.
That’s true and I really wish more people would. Like it really fucking pisses me off that there’s an app for low tide and I can’t use it because nobody keeps up with it I mean shit that’s so annoying like there’s literally an Android app for it but I can’t fucking use it bullshit
I think there’s a fork on github of that app that has a built apk and removed a lot of the broken stuff.
Really O_O
Most devs seem to be on the left sadly. I hardly know anyone on the right who can write code. Only MOB.
