Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke on the telephone for more than an hour and a half on Tuesday, March 18. According to the Kremlin’s readout, shared on Telegram, the Russian and American leaders “continued a detailed and candid exchange of views on the situation surrounding Ukraine,” with Putin thanking Trump “for his efforts to contribute to the noble goal of ending hostilities and preventing further loss of life.” Moscow repeated that any settlement must address “the root causes of the crisis” and “Russia’s legitimate security interests” in Ukraine. The most immediate result of the conversation appears to be Putin’s agreement to a “mutual 30-day suspension of strikes on energy infrastructure.”
What an absolute farce. There’s nothing for it but to point out the very obvious:
with Putin thanking Trump “for his efforts to contribute to the noble goal of ending hostilities and preventing further loss of life.”
Putin could have prevented further loss of life at any moment over the last several years by you know… withdrawing from Ukraine.
The most immediate result of the conversation appears to be Putin’s agreement to a “mutual 30-day suspension of strikes on energy infrastructure.”
I’m pretty sure that most recently Ukraine has been hammering Putin’s oil production ability, so Putin agreed to not get his ass kicked for 30 days.

I’m of the opinion that Ukraine should just fuck shit up anyway and end it once and for all. That’s exactly what Putin has tried to do every single time he “agrees” to a ceasefire. Why would this time be any different? This is just Putin being the absolute fucking coward he really is because he’s getting what he deserves.
Even if Ukraine were to sign this (which they won’t, and shouldn’t) Russia will just carry on attacking, then lie about it. It’s what they have done every single time.
Russia is that guy who offers you a hand to pick you up then drops you onto the floor again… Then proceeds to offer their hand again and again and again.
The hell, infrastructure strikes are how Ukraine is dealing the most damage to Russia. Was Ukraine even involved in this decision?
No. And I very much doubt they’ll agree to it seeing as trump already threw away all his leverage over them. They have no reason to listen to anything America has to say anymore
They were not. The US is pointedly excluding the party being invaded by Russia. This summit was about how to cut up the cake.
This is a return to “spheres of influence”. Until the dawn of the nuclear age, this geopolitical mentality was the status quo ante. I don’t think anyone really knows what reviving that in the modern context will ultimately yield, because it kinda hasn’t been done in about 70-80 years.
Moscow repeated that any settlement must address “the root causes of the crisis”
Agreed, we need to get rid of Putin, the root cause.
Hit em harder
Then Putin patted little Donald on the head and told him to run along and play now.
More explosions it is, then
Ukraine’s infrastructure strikes have been some of their most cost educative, whereas it’s baffling why Russia is investing so many missiles into infrastructure attacks with so little result. Russia would need to offer concessions to induce a mutual infrastructure attack pause, not the other way around. Makes me think it’s a ploy to look like they’re offering something without actually offering anything.
I even go as far to say that this is all in Russia’s advantage. The Russian refineries are, military speaking, a legit target for two reasons. It cripples their war economy and of course logistically. Tanks and trucks don’t run on vodka
Russia is getting things done their way, and I am afraid this will not be the last one.
Right after his glide bombs are jammed, lol
I’ll agree to a cease fire, as long you promise to make absolutely no effort to figure out whether I’ll honor it.
Right…
