It’s typical when you’re hurting yourself with bad decisions to hate the people not making the same bad decisions. They’re a reminder that you could have a better life but you’re actively choosing not to.

Oprah lost most of her friends when she lost weight because she didn’t confirm to the people around her that their life decisions were correct.

I expect the hate to get much stronger as they realize they’ll die alone and there’s nothing to be done about it because the time to act will be 20 years ago.
