Evolution is not ‘survival of the fittest’ but rather ‘survival of the good-enough’.
Most flightless birds compensate by being badass at fighting on ground level. If you’ve ever seen a rooster fuck up a jackdaw you’ll know what I mean.
What a bummer. They should at least get hands if they can’t fly.

Kiwi were perfectly adapted to their environment. If it weren’t for rats, stoats, possums, cats, dogs and humans cutting down their habitat, they’d be thriving. TLDR; humans suck
